This residential neighborhood is home to LaBenite Park, a fun neighborhood park that allows dogs on-leash. While you’re here, you and your dog can go for a stroll on the park’s nature trail. This trail goes along the Missouri River, and it also passes through a shady forest. Locals note that the trail is not wheelchair-accessible, and you'll also come across poison ivy along the way, so keep your eyes peeled! If you’d like to have a snack or lunch after your walk, LaBenite Park has many scenic picnic benches where you can enjoy an al fresco meal with your dog. Bring doggy bags and water with you, and have a great day out at this park!

Clay Meadows is home to Liberty Dog Park, an off-leash park your pup is sure to love. Located 11 miles from Sugar Creek, this three-acre park has separate, fully fenced sections for large and small dogs to play in. The park also has agility equipment for your pup, including a tunnel, ramp, and jump. If your dog gets thirsty while they’re playing, a doggy water fountain is available. If you want to get a sweet treat after the park, head to Sheridan’s Frozen Custard. Sit at one of their two dog-friendly outdoor benches, and enjoy custards, sundaes, floats, and shakes.

When you’re in Plaza Westport, you won’t want to miss Mill Creek Park. This park is 14 miles from Sugar Creek, and it has an exercise trail where you can take your dog for on-leash strolls. This trail winds through the park, passing a pond, wide-open fields, and an ornate fountain. Your dog will pawsitively love walking here! After the park, treat your dog to a snack from Three Dog Bakery. This bakery serves creative homemade dog treats, including carrot cake and chicken-flavored cookie sandwiches. Your dog’s tail will wag with excitement when they see all the treats available here.

If you’re looking for another great off-leash area for your dog, check out Swope Park Off-Leash Dog Park. This five-acre park is 12 miles from Sugar Creek, and it has two separate fenced sections: one for large dogs and one for small dogs. The large dog side has a hill for dogs to run down, and both sides have huge fields with plenty of space for dogs to play with their new friends. If you or your dog get thirsty, doggy and human water fountains are available in the park. Bring a tennis ball or Frisbee, and have a great time playing here!

Looking for a pawsitively amazing place to hike with your dog? Head to Watkin Mills State Park! Located 30 miles from Sugar Creek, this park welcomes dogs everywhere except for its historic buildings and public swimming area. While you’re here, you and your dog can go for a hike on one of the park’s two trails. If you’d like to go on a stroll along Williams Creek Lake, check out the 3.75-mile Bicycle Lake Trail. Or, if you’d rather trek through the woods, try the 3.5-mile Equestrian Trail System. No matter which trail you choose, you and your furry friend are sure to have fun here!
