As a part of Hempstead, the hamlet of Baldwin rests on the South Shore of Long Island, NY, about 30 miles east of the pumping pulse of New York City. Although it's not as exquisite or densely populated as the Big Apple, Baldwin features a number of public recreation areas and relatively pet-friendly surroundings, complete with nice shops and eateries to explore with your pup. The health of local pups is ensured by the two veterinary hospitals in the area.

Baldwin doesn't have any dog parks, but its downtown area is home to many public parks where leashed pooches can accompany their owners for an outdoor adventure. Silver Lake Park is a super simple, but extremely clean, facility for a morning jog or an enjoyable stroll along the walking trails. Milburn Creek Park is another furrific alternative, offering a 24-acre, shaded spot with half-mile walking trails and a boat launch.

But the locals’ favorite is Baldwin Park, featuring two soccer fields and extensive recreation lawns where you and Fido can relax, share a picnic, or just people-watch. If picnicking is not an option, Blue Moon’s traditional Italian treats are waiting for you at the outdoor tables. This Fido-friendly eatery is located just a skip and a hop away in the village of Rockville Centre.
