Central Fairfield
Central Fairfield is a quiet place to call home. You will find the walks through the neighborhood before or after you head out for work are some of the most relaxing moments of your day. Your dog won't mind the walking one bit, so be sure you have your leash and waste bags ready by the door each morning as you grab your coffee. The Black River Forest and Park is an hour north of Fairfield, but well worth the drive if you are looking for some of the best hiking and walking trails in the area with your dog.36
Little Falls
Fifteen minutes south of Fairfield is the town of Little Falls. There are several small parks and green spaces in Little Falls that are simply pawfect for a day out with your amazing pup. Moss Island isn't really an island, but your dog will still be splashing up a storm if you visit this pond-filled oasis together! Moreland Park is another great spot for you to take your pup for an impromptu long walk or a game of fetch with his favorite tennis balls. You will need your waste bags and plenty of energy for this park-alicious town, so grab your leash and head on out!24
Lassellsville
Lassellsville is an easy thirty-minute drive southeast of Fairfield along Highway 29. You will find this town is the pawfect place for nature lovers to hang their hats, with two major park areas just to the north. The Lassellsville State Forest is the first park you will come to, with plenty of outdoor adventures waiting for you on their outdoor trails. Adirondack State Park offers plenty of hiking for a variety of skill levels, either self-guided or with a tour guide. Always hike or camp with friends, and be sure to clean up after your dog at each stop. Don't forget those waste bags!12
Steuben Hill
About 20 minutes south of Fairfield in the nearby town of Frankfort, Steuben Hill is home to the pupperific Steuben Hill State Forest. This trail-filled natural oasis is a great place to visit with your dog on a weekend morning. You will want to grab some hiking buddies and plenty of snacks and waste bags for the trip. You will also want some clean and dry towels waiting for you in the car for after your hike, as your dog is sure to want to check out the amazing sparkling streams that flow all through this wondrous park. Be ready to spend the whole day sniffing around!
