Despite looking similar, gray cat breeds all have distinctly different "purrsonalities." Chartreuses tend to attach themselves to one pet parent, while American Shorthairs are laid-back and easy-going.

Naming your cat something that matches your appearance is easy — all the names on this list are gray-themed! That said, different names might suit gray cats with slightly different coats. 

For example, if you have a British Shorthair, then a blue-themed name like Indigo or Sapphire might be suitable to match their blue-ish gray fur. Or, Cloud might be the right name to choose if you have a gray cat with long wispy fur. 

But you'll want to consider more than just your feline friend's appearance when picking the "purrfect" moniker. When choosing a gray cat's name, your little lion's personality is also worth considering. 

If you have a gray kitten with a stony demeanor, then Rocky or Granite might be fitting. Or, if your kitten is a little fiery, consider calling them Ember or Smokey. You can even name them after your favorite feline cartoon character, like Diana from Sailor Moon or Figaro from Pinocchio!
