Dog Areas in Guilderland

1 Park

Guilderland, New York is a small town located in Albany County. It’s only 12 miles from the city of Albany, which is New York’s state capital. Guilderland’s roots can actually be traced all the way back to 1629, when settlers from the Netherlands decided to call the area home. It wasn’t until 1803, however, when the town was settled. Because of how old the town is, there are more than three dozen sites in Guilderland recognized by the U.S. National Register of Historic Places! How cool is that?

Chances are that your dog isn’t a history buff, though, and is much more interested in what dog-friendly fun can be had in Guilderland. If you don’t mind traveling just a bit, he’s in luck! Albany, which is just a 15-minute drive away, has dozens of dog-friendly restaurants and quite a few bark parks to choose from. Guilderland also has a veterinarian clinic, so care for a sick or injured pet is just a bone’s throw away. Albany has a 24-hour emergency veterinarian clinic, and while we hope you’ll never have a need for it, it’s always good to know.

Guilderland is a small town steeped in rich history; make sure to stop by, and bring your pup along!

In Guilderland’s Winding Brook neighborhood, you and Fido can go have a ball at Guilderland Dog Park! Locals say this bark park isn’t usually too busy, but that’s not a bad thing. It allows dogs that are a little shy to make some new fur-iends. There’s plenty of room for Fido to run around, and as this is an off-leash bark park, we’re sure that’s what he’ll be doing. The fence is secure, so you don’t have to worry about your curious dog making a break for it. Water is provided by the park, but you will want to bring along some waste bags to clean up after your pup.
