Sand, surf, sun… what more could you want? Beautiful Oxnard, California, is home to all of the above, and more, making it a perfect place to spend the day with Fido.

Oxnard's Off-Leash Dog Park is the place to be for pooches looking to socialize! With a multi-item agility course, grass and dirt grounds, a separate section for small dogs, and a coin-operated dog bath area (for those especially muddy days!), there's tons of fun to be had at this free park.

Does your dog love nothing more than playing in the sand and surf? Oxnard has several dog-friendly beaches during certain times of the day (between 5 pm and 8 am, as long as they are on-leash). Hollywood Beach is a local favorite, situated on the western edge of the Channel Islands Harbor. For over a hundred years, this beach has borrowed the famous Hollywood name, and several movies have even been filmed on the shores!

Silverstrand Beach is close to the US Naval Construction Battalion Center, with stunning views of the area. There's also Oxnard Shores Beach, which is north of 5th Street. But be warned - dogs are not allowed on the northern part of the beach since it is a protected area (specifically done by the city and government) due to the rare birds that live there. On-leash dogs are welcome to travel southward (toward the residential areas) on the shore.
