The Venture River Trail is a lovely 5.5-mile hike that takes you along the Ventura and Ojai Valley Railroad line. The trail will take you through a nature area and some industrial parts of nearby Ventura. Throughout the hike, there will also be art installations that incorporate a variety of themes related to the town. With an asphalt trail surface, your dog will easily be able to walk this trail with you by his side. The trail is generally smooth and easy to walk along, with only a small uphill walk. Make sure to bring water.

The Mitchell Edelson Dog Park at Soule Park is a great spot to let your pup run around and socialize, and is just five miles out of Oak View in nearby Ojai. This pawsome fully fenced in park offers a small and large dog area so everyone can play with friends their own size, plus there are benches, trees for shades, and doggie water fountains. While out at the dog park, make sure to check out Soule Park which offers 223-acres of grass for fetch, a playground, tennis courts, and a picnic area. Take advantage of the walking trail that Soule Park has and get a good day of exercise in for both you and Fido.

The Rose Valley Falls Trail is a simple hike if you and Fido are beginners to the hiking world. With a 0.75-mile trail through the Los Padres National Forest, the trail won't take you too long to complete, and there is a small stream that Fido can stop and get a splash in. If you hit the trail during the right season, you will even get a beautiful view of a waterfall. Only ten miles out of Oak View in Santa Paula, your dog won't mind the small car ride to journey along this amazing hiking trail.

Nine miles out of Oak View in Ventura is the Arroyo Verde Park. This pawsome park allows your leashed dog to explore the foothills with you for a great day out. The park offers tons of hiking trails that you and Fido can use for some exercise, but they may be challenging since most are uphill, and you don't have to worry about traffic since the park is tucked away between a few mountains. Besides trails, this 132-acre park offers an open grass area, playgrounds, and a nature center. Make sure to bring water and clean-up bags when you visit.
