This neighborhood will be a big hit with your sociable pup. Grab your pup and head over to the Salina Animal Shelter Dog Park. This dog park sits in the industrial part of town and is right behind the local dog shelter. Your pooch will love this fully fenced-in, grassy, off-leash dog park that has plenty of toys for him to play with. This park offers a tunnel to climb through, a small knotted tire, and a ramp to run up and down. These are just some of the pawesome amenities that this park offers your canine companion. So grab some water and bring your pooch to this park so they can make a few new fur-iends!

Lakewood Drive

This dog-friendly neighborhood is located in the northeast region of Salina, and the main attraction here is the Lakewood Discovery Center. Make sure to grab your pup’s leash and some water before heading out. There are intertwining walking trails that lead you into a lush green forest that has plenty of shade for you and your pooch. As you walk, there are educational stations where you can learn about the plants and animals that live here. This center also offers hiking trails that weave through an area containing woodlands, prairie and water. Make sure you have your walking shoes on because you will need them here!

Lindsborg

Lindsborg, Kansas is the place to be if you are looking to bond with your pup. This dog-friendly city is located about 20 miles south of Salina. You definitely won’t want to miss the Valkommen Trail, a former rail line that is now part of Rails-to-Trails. This 2.5-mile trail will take you through beautiful scenery, and there are plenty of trees for shade. Make sure to bring your pup’s leash and some water for the walk. This trail is covered in asphalt and concrete, so you will need to be careful on hot days and ensure that your pup’s paws don’t get burnt. This trail is an excellent way to reconnect with nature while getting some mutts-needed exercise.

South Salina

In this neighborhood, you will find PETCO, which is a one-stop shop for you and your pup. This PETCO is located in the southern part of Salina. At this location, there are over 10,000 high-quality pet products for you and your pooch to choose from. If you want to get your pet groomed, they offer this service on a daily basis. This is a full-service grooming salon for your convenience. While you are here, you can also get your pup’s photo taken! Another great feature is that they offer professional dog training at this facility as well. Whether you’re hunting for necessities like dog food and waste bags, or just want to get your pal a treat for being a good boy, PETCO has everything you and your dog could want or need.

Downtown

Need a place to rest your weary head while in Salina? Look no further than downtown! Although Salina doesn’t have very many dog parks or other Fido-friendly amenities, there are several pet-friendly hotels here. Right in the center of town is Days Inn Salina, which accommodates two dogs of up to 50 lbs. for an additional $15 fee on a per pet, per night basis. Other pet-friendly hotels in this neighborhood include Quality Inn & Suites Salina, Econo Lodge, Ambassy Motel, and AmericInn Salina, just to name a few. Each hotel’s pet policy differs, so be sure to check your chosen hotel’s pet policy and fees before you book.
