Dog Walking in Manhattan

The size of Manhattan, Kansas may not compare to its big-city counterpart, but the “Little Apple” certainly has a lot for pets and their owners to enjoy. The rich history and scenic views accessible in this college town make it a fantastic place to live, especially if you want numerous options for dog-friendly attractions.

If you’re looking for a dog park in the area, don’t miss Fairmont Dog Park. Open from 6 am to 11 pm seven days a week, this off-leash dog park offers a large space for Fido to enjoy. Or, try the Cico Dog Park, which offers a fenced-in area for off-leash play and a water fountain.

There’s also the City Park, a 45-acre space that was established in 1857. Hosting several arts and culture events throughout the year, this park also features a rose garden, playground, picnic tables, and a one-mile walking trail for your on-leash pooch to explore.

The Manhattan area is also home to several walking and hiking trails. For an easy walk, try the Blue River Outlet Trail, a 1.5-mile loop that offers access to the Blue River. For something more challenging, especially if you're looking for a exhausting workout for Fido, try one of the 5-mile trails at Carnahan State Park. No matter your interest or skill level, there’s bound to be something for you and your furry companion to enjoy in Manhattan, Kansas.

The terrain is nice and grassy, but when it rains, it gets a little muddy, so you’ll need to bring some supplies to clean them up. This park also offers a few picnic tables and some trees for shade on hot days. During the warmer months, the park provides water fountains for both dogs and people! In the winter, though, you’ll need to bring your own water.
