North Topeka East
Take a woofderful walk with your furry friend in the North Topeka East neighborhood, about six miles from Grantville! You and your leashed pooch will love strolling on the 1.8-mile Soldier Creek Trail that winds through this residential area. The paved pathway is a pawpular spot for dog walking and biking and has furrific views of the trail’s namesake creek. Towards the eastern trail terminus, you and your pup will wind through Garfield Park, where you’ll find lots of shade beneath the mature trees, lush grass, a covered picnic area and a playground. This neighborhood is also where you’ll find Veterans Park.

Oakland
If you and Fido are in the mood for a walk with a view, check out Topeka’s Oakland neighborhood, about eight miles from Grantville! This neighborhood’s Santa Fe Park has a woofderful walking path that meanders near the banks of the Kansas River. Santa Fe Park also has lots of wide open grassy areas where you and your pooch can romp, plus trees, a playground, picnic tables and restrooms. If you and your leashed pup stay on the walking trail to the northeast, you can explore the adjoining Oakland-Ballard Park! East Topeka North
For tail-wagging trails, visit the East Topeka North neighborhood! About eight miles from Grantville, this Topeka neighborhood encompasses a long stretch of the 7.6-mile Shunga Trail. A favorite among locals, the paved, multiuse Shunga Trail meanders on the banks of Shunganunga Creek, making it an especially pleasant place to stroll with your leashed pooch. On your stroll, you and your pup will wander through Eastborough Park and Ripley Park. Both community green spaces have woofderful grassy areas, trees, picnic tables and playgrounds. Keep following the Shunga Trail and you’ll eventually meet up with the two-mile Deer Creek Trail that winds through the area!

Head to Topeka’s Eastend neighborhood for furrific fun! Leash your pup and discover the wide open spaces and trees at this neighborhood’s Rice Park, about eight miles from Grantville. You and Fido will have fun checking out all the sights and smells as you stretch your legs in this large park. Rice Park also has a nine-hole disc golf course and a furrific picnic area. For a woofderful walk in the neighborhood, take a stroll on the nearby two-mile Deer Creek Trail. This paved walkway winds next to its namesake creek on a verdant greenway with tons of trees and grass along the way.

East Topeka
Puptacular parks are what you and your dog will discover in the East Topeka neighborhood! About eleven miles from Grantville, this neighborhood’s Samuel Jackson Park is a furrific place to get some fresh air with your leashed pooch as there are lots of mature trees, grass, a paved walking trail and picnic tables throughout the park. Samuel Jackson Park also has a playground and a splash pad for kiddos. For another nearby pawsome park, check out Freedom Valley Park! This idyllic community green space has a .75-mile paved walkway that extends through the park’s woods and around a small pond. Craving a longer walk? You and Fido can enjoy a stretch of the 7.6-mile Shunga Trail in this neighborhood!
