Leash up your pup and check out Lawrence’s Holcom Park neighborhood! This family-friendly residential neighborhood is about six miles from Pleasant Grove and has a woofderful namesake park! There’s usually lots of activity going on in Holcom Park, as it is one of Lawrence’s major recreational hubs, making this a great spot to take your pup if you want to get them out and about in a social place. This 31-acre park has baseball and softball fields, tennis and basketball courts, a playground and a picnic area, all of which are lighted. You and your leashed pup will love romping in the open grassy areas and walking on the paved pathway!

Broken Arrow Park/ Haskell Indian Nations U
If you and your four-legged friend are in the mood to explore a tail-wagging trail, head to Lawrence’s Broken Arrow Park/ Haskell Indian Nations University neighborhood! Just six miles from Pleasant Grove, this area’s Haskell Rail-Trail is a woofderful stretch of nature that winds through town. This .78-mile multiuse path is lined with verdant trees, grass and beautiful sunflowers in warmer months. It’s a peaceful and scenic place to walk with your leashed pup! This pawsome neighborhood is also home to Broken Arrow Park, where you’ll find picnic shelters, a playground and open grassy space where you and Fido can play.

Prairie Park
You and your pooch will love going for a jaunt in one of Lawrence’s most beloved parks in the Prairie Park neighborhood, about six miles from Pleasant Grove. This area’s namesake park is a 72-acre nature preserve with a one-mile trail that loops around the perimeter. You and your leashed furry friend will have a blast discovering all the sights and sounds among the park’s native grasses and wildflowers on your walk. The trail winds around Prairie Park’s seven-acre Mary’s Lake where you might even see some wildlife! This pawsome park also has a drinking fountain, a playground, tennis and basketball courts.

About seven miles from Pleasant Grove, Water Tower Park is a two-acre green space where you and your leashed pup can train, play or relax in the wide open grassy area. This furrific park is lined with mature trees where you and your pooch can hang out in the shade and look up at the giant water tower on the park’s northwest side! The park also has a playground where kiddos can burn off some energy.

Sunset Hills
There’s a big, beautiful park just waiting for you and Fido in Lawrence’s Sunset Hills neighborhood, about eight miles from Pleasant Grove! The neighborhood’s 35-acre Centennial Park is a pawpular hangout, as there’s fun for everyone! Pooches and their people love playing in the open grass playspace and strolling on the park’s paved pathway. There’s tons of mature trees and picnic shelters, making this a woofderful spot for a picnic, too. History buffs will love visiting the park’s displayed relics from the Cold War – a missile and a fighter plane!
