Lawrence Venture Trail
Rails-to-Trails has come to Lawrence. As usual, they have taken the history of the area and highlighted it so that it is the perfect place for you to bring your dog. Haskell Rail-Trail is set up to loop around Lawrence. As the first working part of the Rails-to-Trails system in Lawrence, the preservation efforts have leaned toward integrating it as part of the city. The paved areas are perfect for walking your dog through the city while taking in the natural views of the area. Come visit often to witness all the improvements as they come.

Riverfront
Riverfront Park has an off-leash area that is not fenced in so that you and your dog can enjoy exploring the trails together -- and Fido doesn’t even have to be on a leash! There are several trails to choose from that lead along the river or into the tree-lined areas. This is the pawfect place for Fido to chase squirrels, play fetch with your dog, or do some relaxing fishing together. There are no swimming areas, but there are picnic areas where you can enjoy lunch. This is the place to be to watch the sun set in the evening because of the way the colors bounce of the water.

Clinton State Park
Mutt Run Off Leash Dog Area is a unique dog park that you will only find here in Lawrence. First, there are two large, fenced-in areas for Fido to meet new friends, chase other tails, and just be a pup. Then, when he wants some alone space, the park offers a huge off leash, unfenced area. You can run in the wide open space, play fetch alone with your dog, or just explore the tree line. There are water fountains, cleaning areas, and all the amenities of a traditional dog park. There are plenty of places for you to rest after Fido wears you out.

Downtown Lawrence
When you get ready for dinner, go over to Gaslight Tavern. They have a covered fur-friendly patio that is perfect rain or shine. The fare is classic bar food, including burgers and fries. You can even order a custom burger for Fido so he doesn’t feel left out. This is a great place to enjoy a burger and sip a beer. Meet your friends there, or make new ones -- either way, you are sure to have a puptastic good time just being out with your dog! Please remember that Fido will have to stay on a leash while eating.

De Soto
In just under half an hour, you can travel to Kill Creek Streamway Park. This completely fenced-in, off-leash dog park is designed for Fido to get a feel of the natural world. It has been minimally enhanced so that he can run and play in the woods safely. There is a quiet stream that runs through it as well, and the best part is Fido’s allowed to play in it! The trail that runs through it crosses over the creeks and streams on sturdy bridges and paths. We can’t think of a better way to enjoy nature with your best fur-iend by your side.
