Three miles north of Lansing, in southeast Leavenworth, Kansas, sits the Waggin' Tails Dog Park. This dog park sits on six acres and consists of three separate sections. There are big and small dog sections, and the third section is rotated to ensure the grass has a chance to grow back. From April to October, there are running water fountains on both sides for the dogs, and they also provide visitors with waste clean-up supplies. The city of Leavenworth maintains this free park, and they appreciate any donations from visitors. There is some seating provided in the park, and each side also has a double-gated entry system for added safety.

Central Shawnee

Swanson's Streamway Dog Park is about a 25-minute drive from Lansing, in central Shawnee, Kansas. This large dog park is located next to a dog boarding and daycare facility, and it costs $1 a day to receive the electronic code you need to get in the park. Once you're in the park, you and your dog will enjoy the large grassy meadow as well as the small wooded area in the park. Because this park is private, it's well-maintained, quiet, and clean. If you're looking for the pawfect place to exercise your pet in and around Shawnee, this is it!

Harmony View West

In just over half an hour, you and your dog can make the drive to The Pet Ranch Private Dog Park in southeast Olathe, Kansas. Although this park requires purchasing a membership, you'll quickly realize it is definitely worth the cost! This 13-acre park features well-maintained trails, a stream and a pond, a dog wash station, wooded and grassy areas, and plenty of seating for humans! The Pet Ranch Dog Park also has agility equipment where adventurous dogs can show off their skills. Membership to this private dog park has its perks and ranges from $35 for one month to $350 for a whole year.

South Shawnee

It takes less than half an hour to drive from Lansing to the Shawnee Mission Off-Leash Dog Park in southern Shawnee. This dog park is a big one, sitting on more than 53 acres of land! There are wooded areas and grassy areas in the park, and there are also several trails you can traverse with your pet. If your dog is a swimmer, they'll love the dog swimming area and the beach in the park. This dog park also has seating and a water station for dogs. The surrounding Shawnee Mission Park has activities for the whole family, including disc golf, an archery range, and playgrounds.

West Bottoms

In under half an hour, you and your four-legged buddy can drive to the West Terrace Dog Park in western Kansas City, Missouri from Lansing. This dog park sits on 1.5 acres, and it requires a $5 annual membership for access. The West Terrace Dog Park is open from 5 AM to 10 PM seven days a week, but visitors should note the park is not lighted. Within the park, you'll find benches, a shaded pavilion, waste removal stations, and two water fountains that run during warm months. During your visit, you'll also take in beautiful sights of the Missouri River and the West Bottoms.
