Benjamin Hills
Less than 10 miles outside of Maize is the quaint neighborhood of Benjamin Hills. Located within the Wichita city limits, Benjamin Hills is quite the pet-friendly neighborhood. Here, you and Lassie can meet other pups, and they can run off-leash at the local dog park, sitting on the bank of the Arkansas River. Previously called the Meridian Dog Park, it was recently renamed the K-9 Rooster Dog Park, after a fallen canine officer. Enjoy three different off-leash enclosures – for small, medium, and large dogs – measuring up to 8 acres in total. Plus, the on-site parking lot is eco-friendly!36

Tyler
Tyler is not a particularly populated neighborhood, as it sits just north of the Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport. However, it is the perfect stop-off point before heading down to the Pawnee Prairie Park. This park is the largest in the Wichita Park system and offers visitors the chance to experience nature in all its glory. Lassie has to remain on a leash while on the grounds, but you are free to explore over 5 miles of marked trails, plus a whole number of unmarked trails throughout the park. The Pawnee Park Trail is a 2.2-mile looped trail that is pawfect for pet owners!24

Northeast Heights
Northeast Heights, as the name suggests, is located in the northeastern part of Wichita, just off SR-98. This neighborhood is conveniently squished between three community parks and one dog park! The Old Mission Wichita Park is to the south of Northeast Heights, and pups will need to be on a leash when visiting. The same goes for Chisholm Creek, which is to the east, and Dr. Glen Dey Park, to the west. Murfin's Animal Care Campus sponsors the dog park, which is located beside the Kansas Humane Society. Small dogs can enjoy a separate area for themselves, and the larger dog areas are alternated to ensure the best quality of grass for your pet's paws!12

South City
South City is a larger neighborhood which runs alongside a portion of the Arkansas River. This area is located just off two major highways, which makes it easily accessible from anywhere. Plus, residents have all the necessary neighborhood essentials within a few miles. Pet owners can pick from a variety of parks to walk their dogs in, or they can opt for the bark park, just under South City. The dog park, located at Chapin Park, is the first dog park in Wichita, so it stands as a monument for the local canine community as well. Visitors can also take advantage of the walking trail that spans throughout the park.
