Central Pellston
This Pellston neighborhood is home to two beautiful parks that welcome dogs on-leash. If you want to go for a short, leisurely stroll with your dog, head to Pellston Village Pioneer Park. This park is home to a peaceful half-mile path that goes through the forest and along the Maple River. If you want to take your pup for a longer walk, check out the 125-acre Philip J. Braun Nature Preserve. This picturesque preserve has a trail that goes along the Maple River, and it also has two other trails that take you into the woods and through meadows. Bring water and doggy bags, and have a great day out with your dog at these two parks!

Straits Avenue
If you want to see what life was like in Michigan in the 18th century, check out Colonial Michilimackinac. This historic park is located 17 miles from Pellston, and it welcomes dogs on-leash. While you’re here, you and your dog can go for strolls through Colonial Michilimackinac’s historic fort and fur trading village. You can also go for walks on the historic park’s waterside paths, where you’ll get amazing views of the Straits of Mackinac and Mackinac Bridge. You and your pup with both have a fun time at this historic site! If you want to get a bite to eat after you’re done at Colonial Michilimackinac, head to Scalawags. Grab a table on their dog-friendly patio, and enjoy fresh, locally-caught seafood.

If you want to spend the day hiking with your dog, Wilderness State Park is perfect for you. This 10,000-acre state park is about 18 miles from Pellston, and it welcomes dogs on-leash. While you’re here, you and your pup can explore the park’s stunning hiking trails that go through the woods and along Lake Michigan. If you just want a short walk, check out the .75-mile Big Stone Trail. Or, if you’re in the mood for a long trek, hop onto the 5.50-mile North Country Trail. Whichever trail you choose, you’re sure to have a good time exploring this park with your furry best friend.

Zoll Street
Does your dog love playing in the water? If so, they’re sure to love spending the day at Zoll Street Beach! This beach is 19 miles from Pellston, and it allows dogs off-leash. This 25-acre park is 18 miles from Pellston, and it has a walking path that goes along Little Traverse Bay. The park also has beautiful paths that go through the woods. Bring some doggy bags with you, and enjoy strolling along the water with your pup. Afterward, continue your fun day out with lunch at Twisted Olive. This restaurant offers Mediterranean dishes with a unique Northern Michigan twist. They welcome dogs at their outdoor tables, and they’ll bring your dog a bowl of ice-cold water.
