It is about 35 miles to Atlantic Beach from Yulee, but it is one of the few beaches that will allow Fido to play in the water off-leash. You’ll need to stay in the water with Fido at all times, though; otherwise, he needs to be on his leash. This beautiful beach is the perfect place to enjoy a day with the whole family. Bring the kids to build sand castles while Fido digs moats, plays fetch, or just hangs out under the umbrella. You should bring your own drinking water because they have none at the beach. You will need to have a leash close by when you are on the beach.
Nassau Humane Society Dog Park in Fernandina Beach is only 15 miles from Yulee. It offers Fido a great place to play, and you can give back to your community at the same time. You’ll enjoy all the benefits of a dog park here. There are fenced areas for Fido to play in, as well as water and cleaning stations. Fido can play here for hours, all without a leash! There is a small fee to play in this park, but all of the proceeds go to Fernandina Beach Humane Society. Of course, you could just donate to help care for the park and the animals that need homes. Contribute to a bark-worthy cause at Nassau Humane Society Dog Park!
Confederate Point Dog Park is well worth traveling 24 miles for. It is one of the few free dog parks in the surrounding area. It has a large fenced in area for Fido to run and play off leash for a little while. There are even watering stations to make sure that you and your dog stay well hydrated while you play together. This park is pretty pawpular with the locals, so Fido will always have a chance to make some new fur-iends while you supervise him from the shaded seating area. This is a great way to spend a couple of hours.
It is time to take the 24-mile trip straight to Katheryn Abby Hanna Park. You will have to keep your dog on his leash, but with 450 acres to roam, he won’t mind one bit. The beaches are fur-friendly so Fido can catch some waves with you. Just be sure to supervise your pup at all times. There are also walking trails, bike trails, and plenty of new smells to explore. If you are feeling really adventurous, bring a tent and some camping supplies and set up shop right on the beach! There is so much to do and see that Fido will be begging to come back for more.
