French Quarter
If you are looking to enjoy the sights and sounds of a historic city with your pup, downtown New Orleans is the place to visit. It is located about an hour from Carlisle, LA and is home to The French Quarter which is very dog-friendly. You and your pooch can take a walk through the streets and even visit the marketplace while you are here. There are several shops that allow you and your pup to browse. If you want to grab a bite to eat, the French Quarter is packed with pup-friendly eateries. Just keep your pup on a leash while exploring all the Fido-friendly amenities this neighborhood has to offer!

Audobon
If you and your pooch are looking for a nice, clean area to run and play, The Dog Levee in the Audobon neighborhood is a great little spot to go to. It is relatively close to Carlisle, LA and will allow you to get away from the city life for a while. The Dog Levee, as its name suggests, is part of the Mississippi Levy system. This is an off-leash dog park with grassy areas to run around and socialize. It is not fenced in though, so you will have to make sure your pooch doesn’t run off. You’ll also need to bring water and waste disposal supplies with you since the park doesn’t supply them. And don’t forget to grab Fido’s toy!

City Park
This neighborhood is to the north of New Orleans and not far from Carlisle, LA. The entire neighborhood is a large park that welcomes your pooch to visit while on a leash. There are walking paths and nice trails, some of which are paved and others that are wood chips. There is plenty of shade available for your pup to lie under and cool off, as well as benches to sit on for the owners. You will need to grab some water and waste disposal supplies for your pooch. There are other sites within the park to check out too, such as an amusement park and beautiful nature gardens. If you and your pooch are looking to spend a relaxing day together, come to the City Park.

Metairie
This dog friendly neighborhood is located about 42 miles northwest of Carlisle, LA. It is home to the Bonnabel Boat Launch which is a quaint little dog park for your pooch to have some fun exploring. This off-leash dog park is completely fenced in with a grassy area for dogs to play in. This park is popular with the locals, so Fido is bound to make a new fur-iend or two during his visit! There is agility equipment to play on and water fountains for both you and your pooch as well. There are benches to sit on, but not a lot of shade. A great perk is there is a lot of lighting at night and the park is open late. Grab something for shade and supplies for waste disposal and head on out to have a pawesome day in the park with your pooch!
West Riverside
This is a nice area to visit for your pooch to run off some energy or just get in some exercise. It is located about an hour from Carlisle, LA and is home to the Wisner Dog Park. This is more of a dog run than a dog park but there is a lot of room for your pooch to run around and play. Something to keep in mind is that there are not separate areas for different sized dogs -- everyone just hangs out and socializes together. There is grass to roll around in and some shaded areas for your pooch to lie in. Water fountains are available in case your pup gets thirsty, and the park also supplies hoses to cool off with.
