Evida Street
This quiet residential neighborhood is home to Rosethorn Park, a community park that welcomes dogs on-leash. This park has a baseball field and a playground, and there are paved paths around these attractions where you can take your dog for walks. You and your pup can also take a stroll on the park’s short paved waterside walking path. If you want to have an al fresco lunch with your dog, Rosethorn Park has beautiful picnic tables with views of the wetlands surrounding the park. Bring some water and doggy bags with you, and have a furrific time exploring this park.

West Riverside
If you’re looking for a great off-leash area for your furry best friend, head to Wisner Dog Park. This dog park is about 25 miles from Jean Lafitte, and it has one fenced area for dogs to run and play in. If your pup gets thirsty while they’re playing with their new friends, a water fountain is available in the park. If you want to get your dog a special treat after the park, head over to Canine Culture. This local pet boutique offers human-grade treats for pups, and they also have fun dog toys. Bucktown
Bucktown is a mostly residential neighborhood with an off-leash area all dogs are sure to love: Bonnabel Boat Launch Dog Park. Located 30 miles from Jean Lafitte, this park has one fenced area where dogs of all sizes can run and play. There’s also lots of fun agility equipment in the park, including hurdles to jump over and tunnels to run through. A water fountain and doggy bags are both available in this pawesome dog park. If you want to get a bite to after the park, head to New Orleans Food & Spirits. This restaurant welcomes dogs at their three outdoor tables, and they serve classic Louisiana seafood dishes, like catfish lafayette and seafood gumbo.

City Park
If you’re looking for a great place to take your dog for an on-leash walk, head to New Orleans’ City Park. This huge 1,300-acre park is about 28 miles from Jean Lafitte, and it has tons of trails to explore with your dog. If you want to go on a short but scenic stroll, hop on the 0.75-mile Scout Island Trail. Or, if you want to go a trek through a unique 60-acre forest, try the mile-long Couturie Forest Trail. You could also go on the mile-long Festival Grounds Path or the 0.75-mile Big Lake Path, which offers amazing water views. Whichever trail you choose, you and your dog are sure to have fun here!
Westgate
When you’re in Westgate, you won’t want to miss Lafreniere Bark. Located 32.5 miles from Jean Lafitte, this five-acre off-leash park has separate areas for large and small dogs to play in. If your dog gets messy while they’re playing, a doggy wash station is available, and there are also water fountains for your dog in the park. Your dog will love playing here! If you want to get a drink or a snack after the park, head over to Puccino’s Coffee. Grab one of their five pet-friendly outdoor tables, and enjoy delicious coffee drinks, sandwiches, salads, and more.
