Paramus-Northeast

Paramus-Northeast

Directly adjacent to River Edge is the Paramus neighborhood of Paramus-Northeast, where you will find a large park that Fido will no doubt love. The Van Saun County Park features 146 acres of greenery and fun-filled attractions, including the Bergen County Zoological Park and the Washington Spring Garden. There are also several playgrounds within the park, as well as picnic areas, fishing spots, a one and a half mile walking path, and even a fenced-off dog run where your pooch can safely run free off the lead. There are separate sections for smaller and larger dogs here, but you will need to bring your own doggie bags and drinking water.

Greater Teaneck

Greater Teaneck

Less than a mile from River Edge is Greater Teaneck in Teaneck, and this neighborhood is home to several different parks. The Milton A. Votee Park is the most developed park in Teaneck, with sports fields and courts, a playground, swimming pools and an amphitheater. There are also two paved paths within the park, one that is just over a mile long and circles the park, and the other a third of a mile, winding its way around a couple of sports fields. Also in this neighborhood is Phelps Park, with its sports facilities, swimming pool and picnic area with grills, and Tokoloka Park, which is a passive park featuring areas of natural wilderness.

Maywood

Maywood

Less than a mile from River Edge is the neighborhood of Maywood in Maywood, and there are a couple of parks worth exploring here. The Maywood Memorial Park is always popular with pooches, because not only is this park home to sports facilities and a playground, but there is also a fenced-off dog park within the grounds. In order for Fido to use this dog park, you will need to first purchase a membership tag, which costs a few dollars depending on whether you are a resident or not. The Firemen's Memorial Park is also worth visiting, because even though this is a small neighborhood park, it boasts a tranquil vibe that makes it pawfect for a leisurely stroll with Fido.

Oradell

Oradell

About a mile from River Edge is the neighborhood of Oradell in Oradell, and this area is always popular with dog owners. The highlight of this neighborhood is that it provides access to the Van Buskirk Island County Park, where you will find 13 acres of rugged wilderness to explore. There are a couple of trails that meander through the park, showcasing the area's various natural habitats. Also in this neighborhood is the Rossi Memorial Park, where you will find a couple of sports facilities and a playground, as well as a paved walkway. Dogs are welcome in both of these parks, but will need to be kept on a lead. 

Main Street Medigap, LLC

Main Street Medigap, LLC

Less than two miles from River Edge is the Paramus neighborhood of Main Street Medigap, LLC, and there is a pawtastic park to be found here. Known as the Fairway Oaks Park, this passive park features a playground and a detention basin, which is home to a wide variety of colorful wildflowers and grasses. The best way to explore all of this beauty is by taking the walking path that circles its way around the basin, but make sure that you keep your pooch on a lead, as there is quite a bit of wildlife that calls this park home.
