Historic Boro
The Bergenfield Boro is a city park that combines the history of the city with lush green spaces that you and your mutt will fall head over paws for! There are multiple trails that you and your dog can walk here. You will find community events posted on the event board; there are even some dog-friendly events that happen all year long. The museum is open seasonally, but dogs aren't allowed in. You will find something new to do with each visit. There are public restrooms with water fountains and trash cans throughout. Just remember your leash and a water dish, and you'll be all set for a full day of fun!36

Church Street
Apart from being a local favorite fishing spot, Cooper's Pond is a beautiful area with tons of space to run and play. The cobblestone path is the perfect place to enjoy a quiet stroll with a leashed pooch. Recently, the community came together to restore the historic red barn that is on the pond's property. The memory garden is tended by locals, and flowers are often donated by ones wanting to remember their loved ones. Bring your camera -- this spot is the pawfect place for a photo op! You and your dog will love walking the trails or barking at the squirrels. Be sure to bring water and waste baggies with you.24

Washington
While you are in town, you and your dog should stop by The Recipe for a nice meal. They have five dog-friendly tables that tend to fill up fast, so you may want to call ahead. While the fare is mostly Italian, you can get steak and veal as well. Vegetarians will also find plenty of options to enjoy here. This is a BYOB establishment, so keep that in mind if you want to chow down here. This furrific Fido-friendly eatery is open late, so you can grab a late-night snack to-go if you'd prefer to spend the night in with your pooch. Be sure to bring a leash and water bowl with you.12

Montclair is about a half-hour drive from Bergenfield, but it has the closest place for your dog to get off of his leash and play. Brookdale Dog Park is set up to give your boisterous buddy the pawfect place to be himself. The six-foot fences are designed to keep your dog safe while he plays with the other dogs. There are two areas to play in: one for larger dogs and the other for smaller ones. If you want to get some exercise, you and your dog could walk around the park on the trails. You'll just need to keep your furry friend on a leash.
