The Brook
Located in the adjacent township of Saddle Brook, the Otto C. Pehle area of the Saddle River County Park is easily accessible from the Rochelle Park area—just take the underpass under the Garden State Parkway. Aside from the Saddle River, the Otto C. Pehle area houses a pond where you can hang out and dig into a packed lunch with your best friend. There's also a smaller pathway that encircles the water, and walking this path four times around will allow you and Fido to cover 3 miles. Afterward, wind down at the Midland Brew House, which welcomes four-legged guests at their gated patio.

Need to spend a few days in Rochelle Park? There are no pooch-friendly hotels in the area, but fur-tunately the Crowne Plaza in Saddle Brook is just 10 minutes away. Conveniently located next to Interstate 80, this contemporary hotel offers free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and an outdoor saltwater pool. Be sure to call first to reserve a pup-friendly room! If you need to eat out with Fido in tow, head to The Plank Pizza Co Beer Parlor to enjoy some craft brews and pub grub at one of their outdoor picnic tables. Go for a quiet, leashed stroll with your furry buddy at the Belmont Hill County Park in the nearby city of Garfield. Located on top of Belmont Hill, this park features a children's playground and a scenic overlook where you and your pooch can enjoy pawsome views of northern New Jersey. As always, clean up after your pup, so don't forget to bring doggie waste bags! After letting Fido check out the sights and smells of Belmont Hill, hop in the car and drive about a mile to Bistro 399 to grab a bite to eat. This Mediterranean restaurant has 12 outdoor tables to accommodate diners with canine companions.

This neighborhood in nearby Garfield contains quite a few places where Fido can get his daily walkies, one of those being Dahnert's Lake County Park. A 10-acre oasis in the midst of a bustling urban center, this park features plenty of open grassy space, a picnic pavilion, gazebos, a roller hockey rink, and a walking path around a pond. Another spot where you and Fido can get some exercise in is the 20th Century Park, the city's hub for recreational activities. The 20th Century Park houses multiple athletic fields and courts, a children's play area, and a long walking path that active doggos will enjoy.

Does Fido need friends to play with? Bring him to the Maywood Dog Park in the neighboring borough of Maywood for some off-leash fun! Just a quick drive from Rochelle Park, this fenced-in area is a puptastic spot for your pooch to romp unfettered, so apply for a yearly dog park tag ASAP. The Maywood Dog Park is located within Memorial Park, which is also furrific for hanging out with your pooch. Dedicated to the community's veterans, it has a playground, sports fields and courts, and a walking path that goes around the park. On weekends, you can catch the local kids playing soccer or baseball.
