Garfield, New Jersey is conveniently located just a short drive away from muttropolitan areas like New York City, Newark, and Patterson, so people and pups are never far from the amenities of the big city. This restaurant lets well-behaved dogs inside the restaurant to dine. Boiler Room is the place to be on one of those cold New Jersey days. This restaurant serves up some bar fare and even serves some free pizza! This unique place is open seven days a week, with hours from 2 pm until 2 am Monday through Saturday, with Sunday hours from 12 pm until 2 am.
For those warmer days, a visit to Bistro 399 will satisfy that craving for something a little different. Bistro is located at 399 Midland Avenue and serves Mediterranean and American food. This restaurant has twelve dog-friendly outdoor tables. Not feeling all that exotic? A craving for Italian food can be satisfied at La Cambusa on 317 River Drive. A person with a canine companion is welcome to dine at one of the several patio tables.
Looking for more off-leash fun? Head 10 miles south of Garfield to Montclair, home to Brookdale Dog Park. Your pooch will go dog wild in this off-leash park! This free, public dog park has two fully fenced enclosures so your dog can sniff out some new canine companions. The ground in the dog park is made mostly of fine gravel. There are a few pieces of agility equipment for added exercise and fun. Water fountains let you and your pup sip a drink together. The human companions are able to watch their little "wolves" play from shaded benches. Waste stations make housekeeping a snap!
