Lyndhurst

Lyndhurst is just six miles south of Garfield. Riverside County Park is the place to head if you have a pup that has been cooped up in the house too long. This fully fenced dog park with separate enclosures for big and small canines will let your pup get out for a good stretch. The ground in the dog park is a fine gravel that is easy on the paws. Riverside Bark Park has water and bowls for your thirsty four-legged pal. Frisbees, balls, and toys are provided in the enclosure for some extra fun. Waste baggies are stocked for those necessary pickups, and a few seats are situated under the shade trees just outside the fence. If you're just looking for a quiet stroll, hit the walking path along the Passaic River in the main park, which makes for a great start or a relaxing end to any day.

Paramus

Just 8 miles away, in Paramus, you'll find a furrific dog park that's sure to get your pup's tail wagging! Van Saun Dog Park in the Van Saun County Park offers your pooch a safe place to play with some furry pals. This fully fenced dog park features two separate enclosures so that large and small breeds can play and socialize with new friends their own size. Places for the human companion to sit are scarce, though. This dog park doesn't provide water on-site, but you can fill up Fido's water bowl at the restrooms in the main park, which has picnic areas, a zoo, and many walking paths which welcome leashed dogs.

Ridgewood

A quick, 9-mile drive north will get you to Ridgewood Bark Park, located in the Saddle River County Park. This pawesome, fully fenced park invites dogs of all sizes to enjoy some off-leash playtime. Small breeds can play in their own enclosed area. The large dog enclosure has some agility equipment for your adventurous pup, or can be used to brush up on some skills. The ground here is a mixture of mulch, dirt, and grass, so bring a towel if your pup is a digger! There is no water on-site, and there is a lack of seating for the human companions. Toys are plentiful, though, so a game of fetch will tire your Lab out!

West Milford

West Milford is a little fur-ther afield at 28 miles away, but a ride to the country is sure to get that nose in the air! West Milford Dog Park offers an acre of fully fenced grass for a dog's nose to enjoy. This dog park has a separate enclosure for the small dogs, too. There is plenty of shade for the human companions, and water is available on-site. The hose is a necessity if a recent rain made the ground a bit muddy. There is a variety of agility equipment in the large dog enclosure for training, or a little added exploration for your pup. This dog park is privately owned by the feed store on the same property.  It is a free dog park, but donations are gratefully accepted.
