Named for Ms. Bessie Coleman, a lady well-renowned as the first female pilot of African-American descent, as well as a Chicago resident, this pawsitively awesome park offers lots of furrific things for Fido and the whole fam to enjoy. Originally named Willow Park, the park's name was changed to Bessie Coleman Park in 1973 in an attempt to honor many of the city's heroes.
There is plentiful pawrking along the street outside the park, so you won't need to arrive early to claim the pawrfect spot! You'll want to be sure to pack a bag which contains all of the woofderful things you will need for your day of fun, including bottled water, Scooby snacks, and cleanup bags.
Bessie Coleman Park offers so many pawrific things to do that you'll want to bring Fido and the fam to visit as often as you can. There is a doggone amazing playground which features swings, slides, and a jungle gym to keep the kiddoes occupied. If your kids (and pups!) fancy themselves more of the digging type, why not check out the on-premise sandbox? After their day of digging fun, Fido and his favorite kiddies can stop by the splash pad to rinse off and cool down. If a walk was more what you had in mind, you can grab Fido's leash and head off to peruse the wooftastic gardens which line the park walkways.
