One of the newer additions to the park system in western Chicago is La Villita Park, a fresh and newly-open dog-friendly park that is perfect for recreation, walking, and lots of playing for multiple people and pups. This large park features lots of recreational fields, a new playground, and plenty of places to sit down, relax, and enjoy the day outside with your pup.
The park requires dogs to be on a leash, but still offers plenty for you to do. Off street parking can be found around the entire park, but a small parking area is available along the east side. Once in the park, you and Fido will find plenty of space to explore.
In the southern part of the park, there are asphalt trails that lead to open fields with some trees and shade to sit under. Walking to the western side of the park, you'll pass an enclosed baseball field to the east, and a picnic pavilion with picnic tables to the west. The trail travels north past the soccer fields to the west and east side of the trail, with a work in the fitness trail that leads to a concrete portion of the path that is multi-use for bicycles as well.
After walking past the soccer fields and towards the northern point of the park, you'll notice a new playground, basketball courts, restrooms, and a looping trail that encircles a grassy area to play in if the southern one is too full. The park also offers a number of benches, water fountains, concessions, a water spray feature at the playground, and a skatepark.
With the number of things you and Fido will be able to do in La Villita Park, you and your pup will be sure to keep coming back to get that afternoon walk in.
