Need a new place to walk your pooch? Then grab the leash and make your way over to Lake Shore Park. This pawsome green space is just a bone’s throw away from Lake Michigan and is a pawfect place to take your four legged sidekick.
At just under six acres, it’s definitely not the largest
of parks, but there’s still plenty of open lawn area for your dog to sniff around.
A soft surface running track circles the park. It may be tempting to stroll around
the track with your pal. Unfurtunately, canine visitors are not allowed on the specialized
surface. Let the runners make use of the track while you and your furry friend check
out the grass area.
As you make your way around the park, be sure to check
out the puptacular community garden. It’s on the east side of the property and
it’s full of beautiful native perennial plants. As you mosey through the
garden, paws for a moment so your pup can sniff the flowers. Mature trees are
scattered throughout the park. When summer time rolls around, your pup will be
grateful for the shade they provide.
A fitness center and fieldhouse are located within the
park’s boundaries. You’ll also find some tennis courts and a playground. Lake
Shore Park happens to be located in a densely populated area and it’s not
uncommon to see the locals out enjoying the park. The park hosts various
activities and events throughout the year, so check the calendar to find one your
pup would like to attend.
Don’t forget to bring some clean up bags and pick up
whatever your pup may put down. Since the park is so busy, it’s important to
keep it clean and free of doggy debris. Also, pack some water for your furry
pal, you don’t want a thirsty pooch on your hands. Lake Shore Park will absolutely make your pup's tail wag!
