O'Hallaren Park is a friendly eight-acre community park in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on Chicago's South Side. It's bursting with amenities for family members of all ages such as indoor and outdoor sports facilities, a regular schedule of classes and fitness activities for adults and kids, and even summer camps. Four-legged family members will wag the most for the park's expansive grassy lawns, numerous trees, and walking paths.
Everywhere you turn in O'Hallaren Park, there's another tree. While the park is often busy, its greenery gives it a tranquil feeling. A wide variety of tree species lend variety to the landscape and paint the park with intense colors in the fall. Most of the trees are tall, mature trees that provide excellent shade. They're also great for squirrel chasers and tree sniffers who love to run from tree to tree, tracking who's been there.
Paved paths connect the park's different fields, courts, and play areas. There are many benches under the shade of the park's trees where you can stop and rest while your dog lies down next to you to watch the activity all around you, ears perked. Relax while you listen to the sounds of happy children at play and your happy pup's rhythmic panting.
Pups looking for prolonged exercise could take several leashed laps around O'Hallaren Park. Be sure to bring water and clean up bags, and help keep the park looking its best! Nearby Foster Park and Dawes Park are even larger and offer more green space, trees, and walking trails for an extended walking adventure.
