Sometimes dogs living in a city that's as busy and pupulated as Chicago need to spend some time in nature. That’s where Ridge Park Wetlands comes in. Not to be confused with the nearby Ridge Park, this small slice of land is a lovely oasis in the Beverly Community. Grab the leash and head over for a peaceful walk that will reinvigorate your pup’s spirit!
A few decades ago, this park was set to be destroyed.
Furtunately, the Chicago Park District took over and turned it into a park that
can be enjoyed by pets and their people. Comprised of low, wooded wetlands, the
park is the pawfect place to walk your pooch. Wander around the one acre lot so
your pal can take in all the sights and sounds. A variety of birds and little
critters call this place home. If your doggo happens to see some wildlife, make
sure they mind their manners and don’t bark or chase after them.
Since it’s not a very large park, you may find that your
canine companion still has plenty of energy after their walk. If that’s the
case, pop over to Ridge Park. Less than a block away from Ridge Wetlands Park, it
has plenty of things for your pal to discover. Here you’ll find tennis courts,
baseball diamonds, multipurpose fields, and a playground. More importantly, you’ll
have access to a furrific walking path. Follow the main walkway as it loops
around the park so your pup can get even more exercise.
No matter where you and your furry friend wander, be sure
to always have some clean up bags on hand and ready to go. They will also be most
appreciative if you bring some cold water for them to lap up. Your pup will
agree, Ridge Wetlands Park is a puptacular spot for a walk!
