West Elsdon is one of the largest residential areas in the city, sitting southwest of the town's center and providing a home to thousands of residents. The streets are usually busy and packed with people, which means the parks hosted there become even more popular during the day. One park in particular, will definitely catch your's and Fido's eye. Strohacker Park is a grassy haven for the bustling neighborhood with a touch of recreational amenities.
You'll find plenty of off-street parking on all sides of the park, although you won't see much until you enter, thanks to the thick line of trees that cover the perimeter of the park. The trees provide plenty of shade and privacy for park goers, and also cover a concrete walkway that encompasses the area. In the center, grassy fields dominate the park, with two baseball diamonds at the north and south edges. Benches line the pathway, offering up plenty of shaded sitting areas with access to water fountains and trash bins.
On the farther southern edge of the park, there are other amenities such as picnic tables, a basketball court, a tennis ball court, and horseshoe pits. The north side provides even more, like a playground, swing sets, a small fieldhouse with restrooms, and even more trees that cover the northern edge. Instead of turf of concrete, well-maintained grassy lawns make up most of the terrain, with a few dirt and sandy patches here and there. Be sure you bring water and clean up bags for your day out.
Playing at the park will be even better, as you and Fido will have plenty of privacy during the day to run, play, or just get the exercise Fido will need after being inside all day. The park gets a little busier in the early evening when kids get out of school, so for shy pups, be sure to come earlier in the day.
You and your pup are sure to have a barking good time at Strohacker Park!
