This small area takes its name from Mr. Amos Gager Throop who is renowned as one of the earliest residents of Chicago. Mr. Throop and his brother opened Chicago's first successful lumberyard, and in later years, he served several terms as an alderman and city treasurer.
Though this park is not big on size, you'll find it still has lots to offer people and their pooches. Your doggo may join you in all areas of Throop Park, but in accordance with Chicago leash laws, you must keep them on a lead at all times. Throop Park consists largely of a playground for the kiddies to enjoy and a pawsitively awesome splash pad. If b-ball is among your fave things to do, you will find a pawsome court where you can practice your best rimshot with your fave pooch along for company!
Throop Park does not offer a lot of grass, but there is sufficient for your doggo to feel the crisp blades between their toes. There are lots of benches that are the pawrfect spot for you and your main canine squeeze to do some people watching, to enjoy a snack or picnic lunch, or just to relax and take in the warm breeze. Fancy a walk? There are many furrific cement walkways that line the park. You and your fave furry fur-iend can take a little stroll and catch up some much needed R&R. You will need to bring drinking water and cleanup bags with you, so you won't want to forget to pack these essentials before you head out for this puptastic place!
If a day at a quiet neighborhood park sounds wooftastic, you'll want to visit Throop Park! It's just what the dogtor ordered!
