One of the lovely features of Union Park is its picnic grove with mature trees and shade, picnic tables and benches. Have a snack or lunch with your furry friend and enjoy the refreshing breezes while you share with your pooch. Another charming feature is the experimental American Garden, designed by Jens Jensen who had a hand in so many of Chicago's parks.
Many concerts and music festivals take place here and Fido is welcome, on leash. Demonstrations have been held here, as well. The large, open fields in the center of the park, if not in use for an athletic activity, are pawrfect for a long-leash game of frisbee or catch. Lolling about on a blanket is also a common activity here, and the area around the playground provides seating so you and your furry bestie can enjoy the outdoors while keeping an eye on the kiddos. If you're lucky, the man with the bicycle-powered ice cream truck might come by and you can share something with your deserving doggo. Be sure to bring water and waste bags.
Another of Chicago's oases in the middle of the city, Union Park is a favorite destination for many who want to breathe in the fresh air and give Fido some exercise and socialization!
