There is a large parking lot for the park on the northeast corner, along with off-street parking on adjacent roads. Once safely parked, you and Fido will experience a number of places to enjoy and see, including a pool, museum, tennis and basketball courts, and the Washington Park Refectory, the oldest building in the park and a place that is listed on the National Historical Building List.
The Refectory connects to the park's main trail, which loops twice through the park for a total of 3.5 miles, the first loop encompassing the lower half of the park. The southern portion of the park offers gorgeous meadows, tree-lined pathways, and Washington Lagoon where a trail and fishing pier are available. The trail heads back north and follows past a long line of tennis and basketball courts that line the edge of the area. In the northern part of the park, recreational fields take hold. The second loop encircles a wide area, with four cricket fields, 16 baseball diamonds, and a soccer field. This extensive park has acres upon acres of free space for Fido to run around and play in, along with other amenities such as restrooms, clean-up stations, benches, picnic pavilions, and water fountains.
No matter where you go, you and Fido will be able to see a number of charming buildings and features that are geared towards making your time outside worth it. Make sure to come back to Washington Park more than once to experience all the lovely features the park has to offer.
