Wrightwood Park is a delightful little green space serving the people and pets of the Lincoln Park neighborhood. You would never know it, but decades ago this park used to be a clay pit full of garbage! Furtunately for your pooch, this parcel of land was converted into a puptacular place to play.
At just over four acres, Wrightwood Park is a bit small when it comes to parks. But don’t let that deter your four legged friend, as they’ll still have
plenty of room to sniff around. If they have been lying around the house all day and need some
exercise, take a few laps around the track to get their heart rate pumping.
Once they’ve burned off some energy, stroll around the open lawn area. There’s
a multipurpose field inside the track or nice patch of grass in the northwest
corner of the park. Besides putting their nose to good use, this will give them
a chance to cool off and just enjoy being out in the sunshine.
Wrightwood Park is home to a furrific community swimming
pool. During the dog days of summer, the locals can be found splashing around
in the water. Human children will be happy to know that the park also has a
pawsome playground, splash pad, and a sandbox. Those with a competitive edge
can bring a ball and start up a game on the basketball court, baseball field,
sand volleyball court, or soccer field.
Since this is a small park, it’s super important
to pick up after your pooch. After all, funky smells travel fast! Bring a
couple bags along and be ready to stoop and scoop. Your furry friend will be
most grateful if you also carry some cold water. They’ll definitely need a
drink after their workout. No bones about it, your doggo will go mutts over
Wrightwood Park!
