Introduction

This breed is one of the rarest in the world. They come from a specific region in India, and were bred for the rich and powerful. The name Kanni means pure, which refers to their thoroughbred status and their 'pure' temperament. These dogs are usually quite docile, until someone tries to harm their master. They are preferred by the aristocrats because they defend their territory from wild animals and are fiercely loyal. In fact, they were so trusted that a young bride would receive one on her wedding day to keep her safe from any harm that might come her way. While you won't be giving your Kanni to a bride, they need to channel their protective energy into something. So why not keep them busy with a few fun activities?

Animal scent
Activity description
Like most hunting dogs, your Kanni can follow a specific scent to find their prey. They have been bred to do just that, and are exceptionally good at doing their job. You might not want to take your dog hunting, but you can let them feel useful. You will need a good trail, preferably one that the two of you don't walk often. The point is to set out a scent trail a few hours before taking your dog for a walk. Lead them to a trail and watch as they search for their prize. As a special treat, you could hide a new toy or an especially delicious treat.
Step
1
Set the scent
If you could not find any animal scent, you can use a familiar scent that your dog knows. Find a trail that is unfamiliar, but if you want to go easy on your dog, you can choose a familiar trail. Smear or spray the scent at regular intervals, but don't make it too easy for your dog.
Step
2
Lead them to the scent
Let the scent set for an hour or two, but if the scent is especially powerful, you might want to leave it for longer. Take your dog to the trail, and let them smell the scent. If your dog is well-trained, you can let them off the leash. If not, then keep the leash on for both of your safety. As soon as your dog smells the scent, they will be bursting with curiosity and won't wait for permission to follow it.
Step
3
Keep up!
Once the trail heats up, they will go faster and faster. You will be able to see the excitement in their faces. Make sure that you keep up and don't lose sight of your dog. Every now and then, they will turn around to make sure you're okay. Dogs are sweet like that. Once they find the prize, they won't be able to contain their happiness. This will become one of your favorite activities, just because it excites them so much.

Soft ball
Activity description
Above all, your dog wants to spend time with you. There is nothing better than doing something active with your dog. If you have a Kanni, you know how important it is to set special time aside to interact with them. Even the simplest activity leaves you feeling closer than ever before. If you are getting bored of playing fetch, you could invite a few of your friends over for Kanni soccer. If your friends are busy, then drag your family out. The game is simple, and by the end of it all, you will have a new appreciation for soccer.
Step
1
Start simple
Create two goal areas. You dog's bed or kennel can be one goal while the human goal can be on the other side. You can be on your dog's team, or on the opposing team. It is up to you. Start off with you trying to get your ball to your goal using just your feet. Your Kanni will want to get the ball back to their goal. This will take some patient instruction and may not work the first time, but it will be fun just the same!
Step
2
Add more players
Once your dog has an idea of what to do, you can start adding more players and keeping score. You could play with your dog or against your dog, just make sure they know what is going on. If they seem unsure, you can go sit by their goal, and when they bring the ball to you, you can give them a treat and have them drop it. This will show them what they are supposed to be doing.
Step
3
Have fun
Before you know it, you and your friends and family will be involved in an intense game of Kanni soccer. Do not be surprised when your dog scores more points than you, they are more equipped to get the ball. It will be a rousing competition that gets everyone involved. You could even turn it into an afternoon event and end the day with a barbecue. Your dog will not be able to stop grinning, and neither will you.

Lightweight toy
Water for hydration
Dog treats
Animal scent
Retractable Leash
Activity description
In ancient times, Kanni dogs would patrol their master's territory making sure that no wild animal had snuck onto the property. They are vigilant dogs who were used for hunting. Your Kanni is active and loves chasing things, they have a few built-in traits that make them unique. The point of this activity is to kick their predatory instincts in gear and get them to tire themselves out. You will need a retractable leash, and some animal scents. You can get deer or raccoon scents at most outdoor stores. Check the label to make sure that it is safe to ingest. Animal scent makes it more fun, but it is not a required item.
Step
1
Create the lure
Attach the lightweight toy to the end of the leash and add the animal scent. If you could not find animal scent, don't worry, the sight of their toy running away from them will be enough to get your dog excited. Make sure that you do this outside, since your Kanni will not be able to calm themselves once the chase gets going, and you do not want to break anything.
Step
2
Use the reel-in button
You can throw the toy, and use the reel-in button to bring it back to you. This will make it look like the toy is running. This will be too much for your dog, and they will not be able to stop themselves from chasing after the toy. If the toy has animal scent on it, it will be irresistible to your dog. They will be running until they can't anymore.
Step
3
Get ready to run
Depending on how long your retractable leash is, you might have to join in the game too. If you could not find a retractable leash, then tie the toy to a piece of string and run with it. You could also tie it to your bicycle as you cycle long or put on your running shoes and get ready to be chased. At the end of it all, you will be the fittest dog owner in town!
