Introduction

A Wire Chisoxy, also known as a Chiwoxy or Wire Chiwoxy, is a cross between a Wire-Haired Terrier and a Chihuahua. Both small dogs tend to have short tempers and a little bit of sass, and you can expect the resultant Wire Chisoxy to as well. If you own a Wire Chisoxy, you most likely don’t have children and have plenty of time to dedicate to their high need for entertainment and exercise. You may also know that they prefer the company of adults they know as opposed to other pets or strangers. Because the Wire Chisoxy can be quite a particular breed, you will possibly need some help coming up with fun activities. These might be the very few for which you’ve been looking!

Activity description

If you’ve woken up to a dismal day with no sunshine in sight, you’re going to need to think outside of the square. With rain pouring down, there’s no chance of a walk in the park or even a trip outdoors at all. It might be time to drag out the box of dress-ups or head to the store and get new ones. You and your Wire Chisoxy can then spend an hour with a camera and bribery treats, taking cute snaps in lovely wee outfits! While it’s more likely to be your idea of a fun time instead of your dog’s, it will at least keep you both entertained!

Step
1
Buy outfits
Buying outfits and dress-up accessories for the Wire Chisoxy is a straightforward task. Most pet stores and costume outlets stock more costumes for small dogs than they do larger ones, meaning you have options aplenty. When you are in the process of buying new outfits, consider a few different criteria. Will it be straightforward to put on? Will the material irritate your dog’s skin? And will it be something they can wear again or only for a photo shoot?
Step
2
Pose
Once you have purchased the outfits and have successfully got your Wire Chisoxy to wear them, it’s time to pose them for a photo. Believe it or not, it’s not impossible to get the perfect photo. Hold your camera (or phone) in front of your dog to put them in the frame properly. Hold tidbits or treats directly above the camera. You will get that perfect eye contact shot with ease.
Step
3
Photos
Snap the shot and offer your dog a reward for their time. After all, if your dog had it their way, they wouldn’t be in the outfit in the first place! Now, you can remove the clothing and let them enjoy something else to do. You can create calendars with the photos, share them on social media, or even set up a social media account for your dog where you post pictures regularly.

Laser
Activity description

If you want to tire out your Wire Chisoxy as quickly as possible, then a laser game is the way to go. As an all-weather activity, you can play it anywhere at any time, and it will be fun no matter when you play. What’s more, it requires no effort at all and will tire your pooch out in as little as 20 minutes. Let them chase around the laser on the floor and reap the rewards of a tuckered-out pup that will stay out of trouble for at least an hour or so! Buy a laser and get started.

Step
1
Buy a laser
The only tool you will need for this game is a laser. However, you need to be careful what you buy. Some are not safe for use with dogs, and others come with a list of instructions for the most reliable method of application. If you want to be safe instead of sorry, head to your local pet store. They only stock laser lights that are safe for use with dogs. You can then learn how best to use them.
Step
2
Set the scene
If you want your Wire Chisoxy to see the laser as clearly as possible, then head to a part of your home with the best lighting or dark carpeting. The laser light is red, and it will show up best on darker surfaces. Hallways and passages are often best as there is not a lot of natural light.
Step
3
Play
Shine your new laser light on the carpet and slowly move it around up and down the floor. Once your dog sees it for the first time, they will slowly show more and more interest until you’re able to move it around quickly with your dog taking chase! Remember, never shine a laser light in your dog’s eyes.

Grooming

Activity description

The Wire Chisoxy will take after the Wire-Haired Terrier regarding their coat. With such wiry fur, you are going to end up finding it all over your house if you don’t take the time to groom them at least two or three times a week! The grooming process involves both hand-stripping and brushing, and you will need to set aside at least half an hour for the task. If you start grooming young enough, the process will not bother your pooch in the slightest. It’s also affordable since you only need to buy a brush, and you can do it in all weather conditions as it tends to be an inside activity.

Step
1
Get comfortable
A highly-strung Wire Chisoxy is not one you can brush. And, given how they get nervous quite quickly, you need to pick your moments. Wait until your pooch is comfortable, relaxed, and sitting somewhere nicely in the house. Go and sit with them, patting them until they are in an even more relaxed mood.
Step
2
Brush
Once your dog gets used to the rhythmic patting motion, replace it with the brush and continue with the same pattern. While your pooch will know you’re brushing them, the minor inconvenience plus the inclusion of a treat can see them happy to sit where they are and put up with it.
Step
3
Hand-stripping
Because your Wire Chisoxy has a wiry coat, you will need to hand-strip more often than not. This process involves removing the dead fur on your dog that a brush did not get. Work your way from their head to their tail, then their underbelly. Put sections of hair between your finger and thumb and pull gently. You shouldn’t need to use any force or cause discomfort. While you can use a stripping knife for this process, fingers can be more effective.

More Fun Ideas...

Chew Toys

When a Wire Chisoxy is nervous, they chew. Unfortunately, it can often be things into which you’d rather they didn’t sink their teeth! Whether they’re bored, stressed, nervous, or playful, a chew toy can tick all the boxes for satisfying your dog. Make sure they have plenty around your house so they can grab one at a moment’s notice. It will take all the pressure off your new shoes!

Weasel Ball

When a Wire Chisoxy gets into a playful mood, they are a hoot! They love to run, play, and chase, and all while you’re there to watch them. Enhance the experience with a weasel ball. A weasel ball is a fluffy soft toy in the shape of a weasel, attached with string to a plastic, battery-operated ball. The ball moves around, flipping the toy and having your dog think it’s alive! It’s bound to cause a lot of laughter in your family.

Conclusion

As you will know, your Wire Chisoxy is an adorable, feisty little character with so much spunk and zest for life. However, given their general dislike for other pets, strangers, and children, you don’t have all too many options at your disposal to keep their little minds and bodies active. To avoid them feeling a little ruff at the lack of variety, consider these options above.Â
