Activity description
Agility courses and agility training has become quite popular in the dog community as a way to exercise your dog while also stimulating them mentally. This is perfect for your Beagle Point who has more energy that you know what to do with! While it can be hard at first to train your pup to run agility courses, once you do, they will be unstoppable. With no breed requirements, you can enter your mix breed dog into agility competitions across the country. Maybe your pup will be the fastest and most accurate in the land! Time to start training today!
Step
1
Attempt obstacles
Teach your dog to complete the obstacles in an agility course. These can range from walking across a skinny board to jumping through a hoop to weaving in and out of posts as they run. Mastering each obstacle individually and then linking them together in a course is the best way to go.
Step
2
Step it up
Enter your dog into local agility competitions as they start to get better and faster. Begin on a small scale, maybe even just have them compete with a friend at agility training class and then move up from there. As always make sure your Beagle Point is having fun!
Step
3
Become great
Once you have had your Beagle Point compete a few times in agility competitions, think about how they can get better. The competitions are scored based on speed and accuracy of tricks so work on whichever your dog needs more of. Run the courses again and again until your dog is the fastest out there - make all the Beagle Points proud!

Activity description
When you have a dog that is a combination Pointer and also part Beagle, you get a breed that has a fantastic sense of smell. This is because both of these breeds are tracking dogs, used to hunt using mainly their noses. If you do not intend on letting your Beagle Point actually go on real hunting trips, you need to find another way to use this amazing skill they have. Setting up scent related games is a great way to keep your pup happy while also catering to their individual skills- smelling! Time to start tracking with your pup! These games can be done in any type of weather and are of little to no cost. Play as often as you like!
Step
1
Treat trail
Leave a trail of treats across your home that leads to a larger pile of treats which can be your dogs "treasure". Your Beagle Point will easily be able to find the treasure by following the trail (and eating along the way). Next time, eliminate the trail of treats and just hide the treasure for your pup to find. Your Beagle Point will have to use their nose and track their way to the reward!
Step
2
Treat puzzles
There are many treat puzzles which you can purchase and give to your Beagle Point for entertainment. Most involving placing the treats inside the toy and your dog figuring out how to get the morsel out. This is a very active game that also involves your pup's sense of smell - they know the treats are there but just can't figure out how to get them!
Step
3
Muffin tin game
Place a muffin tin on the ground and put a few treats in two or three of the cavities. Cover each hole (all of them) with a tennis ball and then let your Beagle Point play! They will need to flip the tennis balls off in order to find where the treats are hidden. Another scent game that is interactive and fun!

Activity description
Your Beagle Point is a super friendly dog who is full of energy and excitement. This happy, uplifting energy can be used for good by training your dog to be a therapy dog. These dogs visit hospitals, schools, nursing homes and many other places, bringing joy wherever they go! Not only is this a fun thing for your dog to do but it is also beneficial for you and your community. You will feel good being able to help people who need soothing and your dog will get to experience a new environment and play with new friends! Check online to become informed about the courses, the involvement for certification, and the cost. Everyone wins when your Beagle Point becomes a therapy dog!
Step
1
Training
Begin by working on training your dog to be a therapy dog. There are many classes and certifications which you and your pup must pass in order to be a true therapy dog. Yes, many places may accept your dog to visit as a therapy dog without certification but it is in the best interest of you, your pup and the facilities you will be visiting that your dog receives proper training.
Step
2
Practice
In addition to practicing techniques and skills in the classes you take with your dog, continue the training at home. Things your dog will need to learn in order to be a therapy dog include being patted by many different people, being comfortable around all types of people (especially children who can move in different, startling ways), listening and obeying your basic commands (sit, stay) and remaining calm.
Step
3
Schedule
Find places near you that would like a therapy dog to visit. Check with local hospitals, schools, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers and other places where people in need may reside. Then, bring your Beagle Point to play! Let your dog's naturally upbeat energy be the star of the show and make sure to show your dog off to everyone! They will love having your dog around and your Beagle Point will enjoy the extra attention.
