Activity description
One of the best activities for Border Collie Britts and their outdoor-loving families is to go on an overnight backpacking adventure. These dogs love being outside and wandering through the woods smelling scents and tracks from woodland creatures. When the weather gets hot, you can load up a pack and your dog's backpack and head into the mountains for an inexpensive break with cooler temps and long summer days full of hiking. When you're at camp, there is no better camp friend than the Border Collie Britt. While you might be tired from the long hike up, your furry friend will be ready to explore your campsite before settling into the tent.
Step
1
Get used to the pack
Border Collie Britts are mid-sized dogs and can handle carrying a few pounds of their own food and gear in a dog backpack. Make sure your dog's backpack fits well, and let them spend a little time in it. Put it on and give them treats or dinner. You can put it on before they go out for a walk. Make it fun and exciting to wear the backpack. When they are comfortable with it, start putting in weight, little by little (always make sure it's even on both sides).
Step
2
Tent sleeping
While your dog is getting used to the backpack, you can also get them used to the tent. Set it up in your yard or even in the house and sit inside with your dog. Don't play games because you want them to know tent time is sleep time. You can put their dog bed in the tent for a few nights before you head out. When you get your dog used to sleeping in the tent, they will much better behaved on the trip.
Step
3
Your first backpack
Choose an easy overnight for your first backpacking trip together. You want to make the first experience easy and fun for your pup. Make sure you pack their bag evenly and take any extra supplies in your backpack, and head out. Leave plenty of time to play at the campsite so your dog will be happy and tired. The next day, your dog will be so excited to wake up in the outdoors. With a little practice, backpacking will be their favorite activity with you.

Entry to the race
Activity description
Your Border Collie Britt is already your best running partner. They never press snooze and will always be raring to go for a run no matter the weather. Why not take it a step further by entering into a dog-friendly race. These races can range in distance and the entry-fee usually benefit a cause close to your pup's heart. As a fun-loving and social breed, running races are some of the most fun activities for Border Collie Britts. It's no doubt they will make friends with all the competitiors, whether they win or lose the race.
Step
1
Choose your race
There are numerous races around the country that allow dogs to race beside their owners at many different distances. If you can't find a race near you, why not sign up for one in a place you've never been. Chariots of Fur in Jacksonville, Florida or the Green Mountain Iron Dog in Vermont are just a few of the exciting dog-centered races you can enter.
Step
2
Train like champions
Once you pick a race and distance, do a little research into the course so you know what to train for. If the course has lots of hills, but you live in a flat area, find the closest hill and do laps on it with your pup. If the course has agility obstacles, find an agility center and practice with your dog. Training with your Border Collie Britt will be motivational and fun. They will always be pushing you to run your best and happy to be training alongside you.
Step
3
Race day
On race day morning, be sure you and your pup are well fueled and hydrated. Races with dogs are often a little more relaxed in the morning and focused on fun, so take a deep breath and smile when you line up at the starting line. Don't crowd other dogs and leave some space for their owners. When the gun goes off, it's time to run. Having your dog out on the course with you may be all the motivation you need to push yourself. At the end of the race, there will be snacks and rewards for humans and pups for a job well done. Give your dog a treat, take a break, and start training for the next one.

Tennis ball
Flyball box
Activity description
Flyball is one of the best activities for Border Collie Britts because it combines the drive and ball-obsessed side of the Border Collie with the speed and athletic prowess of the Brittany Spaniel. In this fast-paced relay game, the first dog runs through a course of four hurdles, to the flyball box. They step on the box to release a tennis ball, catch the ball in their mouth, and run back to the start as fast as they can so the next team member can start. It's a moderately priced, fun sport for social Border Collie Britts and highlights their speed and agility.
Step
1
Hurdles
The first step is to get your dog used to the hurdles. In Flyball, four hurdles are set up in a row. Start by using one hurdle and encouraging your dog to jump it by following a treat or ball lure in your hand. Once they can jump one hurdle back and forth, add the next and the next. Lastly, teach them to jump over the hurdles away from you by tossing a tennis ball over them.
Step
2
Flyball box
The next step is to teach them how to get the tennis ball out of the box. Use treats to teach them to first get close to the box, Next, encourage them to put their paw on the box. When they've mastered this, pinpoint exactly where they need to step to release the ball. Get them to increase the pressure until the ball is released. Once they figure out how to get the ball, they'll be so excited to reach the fly ball box anytime they can.
Step
3
Create a team
Take a little time to put each of these steps together and then look for a team. Flyball is an inclusive sport and many times are comprised of dogs of all sizes. Hurdle height is set for the shortest dog on the team so don't worry about running with the big dogs. You and your Border Collie Britt will have so much fun practicing and bonding with your teammates. Your pup will come home happy and tired after each practice and competition.
