Introduction

The Box-A-Shar, also known as the BoxPei, is a hybrid breed. The parent breeds are the Boxer and the Chinese Shar-Pei. The Box-A-Shar will be a large dog, but don't let that limit you in the activities you choose for your designer pooch. This dog will be extremely intelligent, so games that involve mental stimulation are perfect for the Box-A-Shar. Because the Box-A-Shar is a large dog, you will need to be particular about the amount of exercise you expect from your furry friend when they are under one year of age. Furthermore, you 'll need to be cautious about the time of day in which you choose to exercise outdoors. The parent breeds of this hybrid dog both have issues with extreme weather.

Activity description
The Box-A-Shar is a very smart designer breed. They will need both mental and physical activity. However, inclement weather may impede you from taking walks or playing otherwise outdoors. Utilize these rainy day games to provide your Box-A-Shar with mental stimulation. Your pooch will not be subject to boredom with these fun activities. In fact, you might find yourself playing them even when the sun is out! Some games involve a modified version of hide and seek; others involve learning some simple commands or tricks. You'll find that your dog looks forward to these playtime activities as much as they enjoy their outdoor games.
Step
1
Search and sniff
Grab a muffin tin and twelve tennis balls, plus at least the same amount of treats. (Bonus: Ensure that the treats are a little "smelly" so that Fido finds them easily, which you want the first few times you play.) Hide the treats under the tennis balls in the muffin tin and encourage your furry friend to find the treats.
Step
2
Interactive dog food puzzles
Do you need to be away during the day? Are you concerned that your canine companion will suffer from boredom while you are out? Have you had issues with your pup being destructive while you are running errands? An interactive dog food puzzle is a great way to give your pooch some activity while you are gone. Although the Box-A-Shar may figure out the objective of the game rather quickly, simply involving them in the act of "working for their food" is a great way to keep your dog out of mischief.
Step
3
Learn some tricks
You really CAN teach an old dog new tricks, and you can also practice old commands and tricks as well. A rainy day is a great time to learn something new. Want Fido to sit? Use a treat at nose level. Have your furry friend follow the treat until they are in a seated position. Practice old commands - stay, come, or perhaps, roll over. Keep training (and practice) to about thirty minutes at a minimum.

Scent Games

Activity description
Your Box-A-Shar will have a propensity for tracking that they inherit from their Chinese Shar-Pei parent. Therefore, they will be great at tracking and scenting games. There are many scent games that you can engage your Box-A-Shar in. You can get a favorite toy and scent it, then hide it and ask the Box-A-Shar to find the toy. You can also hide "smelly" treats throughout the house for the Box-A-Shar to find. You can also incorporate a muffin tin and tennis balls to change the game just a bit. These games can also be taken outdoors on nice days.
Step
1
Find the toy
A really fun game for the Box-A-Shar is a version of hide and seek in which the hidden object is a scented toy and the Box-A-Shar must find it. First, scent the toy by slicing open a hot dog and rubbing the insides on the toy. This will leave the scent but won't make a mess. Then hide 3/4 of the toy (at least the first time the game is played). Encourage your pooch to find the toy. Praise them for a successful find.
Step
2
Hide and seek
Head over to your local pet supply store and ask for some "smelly" treats. These treats just possess a stronger smell than others, and this makes them easier to find. The first time, call your dog into the kitchen and have them sit. Hide the treats as they watch. When you're done, tell the dog to "find it." Once the dog understands the game, you can hide the treats while they are out of the room.
Step
3
Muffin tin hide and seek
This is a great variation of the hide and seek game described above. Grab a muffin tin, twelve tennis balls, and the same amount of smelly treats. Place the treats in the empty tins. Cover them with a ball. Tell your pup to "find it," and watch them go after the treats. Another way to play this is to only place treats in certain empty tins to intensify the search.

Activity description
The Box-A-Shar loves to be outdoors! The Box-A-Shar is a great walking companion. They will also be happy to join you at the dog park or at pet-friendly restaurants. The Box-A-Shar will also prove a great companion while playing in your own backyard. Keep in mind, however, that the Box-A-Shar should never be allowed to exercise during the heat of the day. This hybrid dog may have inherited their Boxer parent breed's short, brachycephalic snout, or they may have inherited the thick wrinkles of the Chinese Shar-Pei parent. Either of these characteristics could cause the Box-A-Shar to become overheated quickly.
Step
1
Let's play chase
Dogs just naturally love to play chase. You can do this in a number of ways. You might enlist younger family members to run and coax the Box-A-Shar to chase after them. Then, there is a neat toy called a flirt pole that you can utilize for much the same purpose. Be sure not to overexert the Box-A-Shar, but have fun playing chase.
Step
2
Fetch
All dogs enjoy a good game of chase. Grab a tennis ball or a sturdy rubber toy and encourage your pup to go get it. You might need to teach the command "give" if you notice that your Box-A-Shar does not want to relinquish the object. Once you are confident your dog understands the rules, resume the game.
Step
3
Dog park
The dog park is a great place for a pup like the Box-A-Shar. Once your furry friend has completed all their vaccinations, take them to the dog park for some socialization and exercise. There are lots of different activity centers that your pup can enjoy. Then, if available, you can visit a pet-friendly restaurant for a sweet treat.
