Activity description
Brazilian Terriers are known to have a sharp bark which they use more often than not. While listening to your pup bark at every little thing can be a little irritating, it can actually be a very useful tool when your Brazilian Terrier is trained properly. Teach your dog to bark only when alerting you of something important - a little guard dog with a powerful voice for sure! It can be challenging to teach your dog when to bark and also when to stop but with consistent training, you will have a Brazilian Terrier alert pup in no time! All you need are a few treats and you'll be ready to start!
Step
1
Bark and stop
Begin by training your dog when to bark and when barking is not appropriate. When your Brazilian Terrier barks in everyday life, say the command "bark" and give them a reward. After only a few times, your dog will learn the action associated with the word "bark" and be able to bark on cue. Do the same for when your pup ceases barking, saying "quiet" and rewarding them. Practice "bark" and "quiet" often.
Step
2
When to bark
Once your dog can bark on cue, it is time to teach them what you want them to bark at. If you want your Brazilian Terrier to yap when the doorbell rings, have a friend ring the doorbell and say "bark" to your pup. Do the same action and responsive command with your dog many times so they learn when barking is required.
Step
3
Practice and praise
Keep practicing with your Brazilian Terrier, training them when to bark and act as an alert dog. Your pup will likely love this new job and be very eager to please, alerting you immediately when suspicious behavior is about. Don't forget to practice the "quiet" command too as it is just as useful for your dog to alert you to danger as it is for them to stop barking!

Activity description
Brazilian Terriers are very similar to other Terrier breeds when it comes to their need to dig. This behavior stems from the breed's training in hunting rodents and small animals - they would need to dig down in order to get to the animal they were chasing! While digging was quite useful for Brazilian Terriers who needed to catch a rodent, it isn't always something you want your house pet doing. In order to allow your dog to keep digging, something that is engrained in their DNA, but save your home and yard from holes, give these tips a try! All are essentially free and, while you will want sunny days for the outdoor activities, you can also have digs inside...you'll see how!
Step
1
Separate section
There is nothing a Brazilian Terrier loves more than digging in your yard. Make a section of your land that is just for your pup to dig in. Bury a few dog treats or bones in this area and then encourage your pup to dig for them. If your dog wanders away from this section, correct them, bring them back and reward them when they dig. The will quickly learn where in your yard the "buried treasure" is!
Step
2
Sandbox digs
Get a small sandbox and install it in your yard for your Brazilian Terrier. Show your pup their new digging spot and watch as they start sending that sand flying! The feeling of the soft sand under their paws will excite your Brazilian Terrier and also help prevent them from digging in other, undesirable places.
Step
3
Indoor dig
When the weather prohibits your Brazilian Terrier from going outside to dig, you can set up an indoor dig for them and help get out some of that pent up digging behavior. Make a big pile of dirty laundry on the floor and hide a bone or treats at the bottom of the pile. Let your Brazilian Terrier start digging, looking for their reward and see how much fun ripping through some laundry can be for your dog!

Activity description
Brazilian Terriers are big fans of the water, enjoying any type of activity where they can swim, run through a sprinkler or lounge in a small pool. Dock jumping is a perfect way to let your Brazilian Terrier have the chance to swim and to let them get out some energy. While dock jumping is just purely a fun activity, you can also consider entering your dog in dock jumping competitions if they are particularly skilled jumpers. This activity is basically free, costing a few treats, a tennis ball and the price of competition entry (if you choose that route). You will want nice, warm and sunny weather for this one, though!
Step
1
Perfect spot
Look for a place you can go dock jumping with your dog. Fresh water and salt water will work, however, you will definitely need a place where your dog can run, jump and land in the water safely. The water should be fairly deep at the end of the dock and it is best to have a nice long dock so your dog can get a good run before leaping.
Step
2
Swim start
When your first arrive at your dock jumping spot, let your Brazilian Terrier explore the area, get their paws wet and get excited to play in the water. Head to the dock and jump off the end yourself, showing your pup how it is done and also ensuring that the area is safe. Call your dog in and see if they will jump in right away! Once your dog is comfortable in the water and in the area, it's time to jump!
Step
3
Run and jump
Start near the back of the dock with your Brazilian Terrier then, start jogging forward with your pup following you. Throw a tennis ball off the dock, into the water and watch as your pup flies off the end of the dock, chasing that ball! Call your dog back to you after they get the ball and have them jump in again. If you think your pup has a lot of air time before they hit the water, consider enrolling them in a dock jumping competition!

More Fun Ideas...

Tennis Ball Tosser

Invest in an automatic tennis ball thrower which can toss a tennis ball far and fast for your Brazilian Terrier to chase. Your dog will love running after those fast balls and your tennis ball arm will appreciate a rest!

Long Walks

Brazilian Terriers definitely need a lot of exercise. However, these pups do not do well off the leash and have a tendency to wander. Rather than let your dog run free, be sure to take them for nice long, leashed walks!

Conclusion

Due to their high energy and ability to play for hours, owners of Brazilian Terriers definitely need to have lots of activities planned for their pups. All of these will be perfect in keeping your dog entertained and active. So grab your Brazilian Terrier and head to a dock to do some jumping, set up places for them to dig and try teaching your pup to bark on cue. All of these games will keep you and your dog busy for hours!
