War Eagle Cavern in Rogers Arkansas makes an excellent adventure for you and your pup when it is raining. The only area cave that welcomes dogs inside,  War Eagle Cavern is Northwest Arkansas's largest cave, with over 4 miles explored. A tour of the cave allows you and your pup the chance to explore nature without getting wet, despite the inclement weather. During your tour, you will explore huge rooms and learn from your guide about the "domes" and other formations within the cave, as well as the history involving the cavern. Tours leave from the trading post every 20 minutes during the season.

Step
1
Plan your visit
Depending on where you are coming from, some planning may be in order when it comes to visiting War Eagle Cavern. Cave tours occur daily, though you will want to keep in mind that the last tour each day will take place at 4 pm and be sure to factor that into your planning. Because you will be in the cavern, the weather does not matter, making this a great choice when rain is in the forecast. No matter how hard it is raining, or if it isn't, you can still explore War Eagle Cavern.
Step
2
Prepare for the adventure
Once you know that you will be visiting War Eagle Cavern, make sure that you have the items that you need for your visit. A leash will be imperative as it is required that your pup be on-leash when visiting the Cavern. Waste bags are also necessary, so that you can clean up any mess that your dog makes. Treats can be helpful should you need to distract your pooch (perhaps from another dog) or reward them for good behavior. As you and your pup will be active, water and a water dish will help you keep your dog hydrated.
Step
3
Explore the cavern
Once you arrive, it is time to explore War Eagle Cavern. Walking through the cavern is easy, with only a few uphill steps. You will walk along a stream that flows through the cavern and learn from your guide about the cavern's formations, history, and the 100,000 or so bats that call the cavern their home. There is plenty of space in the cavern for you (and your pup) to explore and your are invited to ask questions as you investigate this unique place.

Activity description

As you know, your pup will need some activity on a daily basis, even if the weather is not cooperating. Sometimes, it will take a little creativity on your part to ensure that your pup meets their activity requirements. A great way to engage your pup physically and mentally is by working with them on agility activities. You can start simple, setting up one activity that requires minimal skill and gradually increasing the difficulty of the activity. As your dog masters a few of the activities, you can link them together to create an agility course. Of course, when it is raining, doing this outside is not an option...so bring the agility indoors!

Step
1
Decide on the activities
First, you will want to decide on a few agility activities to focus on. What you choose will likely depend on your dog and their energy level, size and experience with agility activities. A hula hoop can make a great starting point; your dog can initially walk through the hula hoop and then you can increase its height and you can work with your pup on jumping through it. You can also set up jumps by using PVC pipe. A kiddie tunnel is another fun thing for your pup to try; you pooch can run in and out of the tunnel at their own pace.
Step
2
A hula hoop and more
Once you have decided what agility activities you would like to set up for your dog, it is time to collect the items that you will need. A hula hoop will be easy to find and inexpensive to purchase. PVC pipe is also helpful when looking to create jumps, as well as setting up poles for your pup to weave through. You can collect one item at a time or a few items; whatever works best for you.
Step
3
Set up the combination
Once you have the items that you need you are able to set up the agility activities for your pup. Start with one activity and make it as easy as possible (at first) for your pup. You can reward your pooch with treats as they accomplish the task. After a few repetitions at a basic level, you can increase the difficulty of the task and work with your pup on accomplishing the task at the higher level. Again, reward your pup as they accomplish the more difficult challenge. Once your pup has mastered one agility activity, you can move on to the next. When your pup seems to have a good feel for several activities, you can combine two activities (and then three) to create an agility course for your pup.

Spa Day

Dog Shampoo

Activity description
On a rainy day, you and your pup can spend time together indoors by having an in-home spa day. This will look different for everyone but can include bathing, brushing, facials, cutting your pup's nails and even painting them. A spa day will offer you the opportunity to spend time with your canine companion and meet their grooming needs. Your pup will enjoy being the center of your attention and you will appreciate seeing your dog looking their best. Make sure that your spa day is low pressure and most importantly, fun!
Step
1
Spa package
First you will want to decide what your spa day will consist of. You may know that your pup desperately needs a bath and will prioritize that. Or you may have always wanted to paint the nails of your pooch and figure that now is the time. It is up to you as to what your spa day will look like and you can be as creative as you would like.
Step
2
Pamper your pup
Once you know how you would like to pamper your pooch, you can get the items together that you will need. When it comes to shampoo, make sure to choose a dog shampoo, rather than using shampoo for people. It is best to find a shampoo with the least amount of ingredients possible, as this will reduce the likelihood that your pup will have an adverse reaction. A brush will also be important so that you can brush through any tangles and remove any dead fur that your pup has. Get some dog nail clippers if you don't already have them and some treats can be helpful to encourage your pup when clipping their nails.
Step
3
Shampoo and bond
When you have the items that you need for your spa time with your pup, you can go ahead and get started. Should you plan to give your dog a shampoo, be sure to brush out any tangles from their fur before you do so. Have some patience when clipping your pup's nails; this is often not a favorite activity for canines. Should you want to paint your pup's nails, go for it...perhaps with an edible incentive! A spa day will offer the opportunity for you and your pup to spend more time together while your pup soaks in some special attention!
