If your dog is a huge fan of riding in the car, chances are, the reason is that they like the movement. Moving fast and bumping up and down can be fun for your dog (that paired with all the new smells and sights that go flashing by, of course!). So why not try to create this experience at home? That's right, an indoor "car ride"! There are several ways you can make your dog feel like they are in the car without ever stepping on the gas. Give these activities a try - they are sure to thrill your movement loving pup!

Step
1
Wagon ride
Get a wagon or cart that is big enough for your dog to fit inside comfortably. Put a few pillows or blankets in the wagon and set your dog inside. Pull them around your house going fast, then slow, turning quickly and then stopping fast. Just make sure they don't try to jump out of the cart!
Step
2
Sledding
Get a snow sled and line it with a cozy blanket. Place your dog on the sled and slide them around the house. You can even set up a 'slide' using couch cushions for smaller dogs. Pull your pup all over your house or head outside for even more space.
Step
3
Run and bounce
If your dog is small enough to be carried, you can simply pick them up and run around the house. While this may be a little different from taking a trip in the car, the motion is still the same. Your dog will be going fast, bouncing around and, most importantly, having fun!

Activity description

If your dog loves car rides, then they will enjoy going on any trip, even short ones to the grocery store. Bring your dog everywhere with you, to the park, to the grocery store, down the street to your friend's house - if you are going in the car, bring your dog! Not only will your dog love the car ride, but they will also just enjoy being with you. Customize your back seat especially for your dog - blankets, pillows, a water bowl in the cup holder - get creative! Your dog will love their own car sanctuary especially once it starts heading down the road!

Step
1
Safety and comfort
Make sure your car is a safe place for your dog before leaving your driveway. Set up blankets in the backseat to make the area cozy (this especially helps if you have slippery leather seats that your dog may slide on). Also, while your dog may enjoy sticking their head out the window, make sure to never open it wide enough for them to jump out.
Step
2
Pump it up
Grab your pup and go! Go where? Anywhere! Dogs who love car rides will just be excited to be moving in the car (the movement is typically what excites most dogs). Talk to your dog while in the car to get them even more excited - "We're going to the store!" or "Let's go see grandma!" will get your pup even more pumped about their trip.
Step
3
Park and enjoy
If you get to your destination and have to leave your dog in the car for a minute or two, be certain to make sure your dog is safe. Crack the windows a tiny bit so they have some air and give them a treat or two to keep them occupied. Of course, never leave your dog in a hot car or in a car that is extremely cold - car rides should always be positive, happy experiences!

Activity description

If you have a car-loving pup then planning a road trip is definitely something you should do. Not only will your dog be able to be in the car for an extended period of time but you will also get to go on a nice vacation! Everyone wins! If you plan on traveling in the car over a period of multiple days, be sure to set up the car so that your pup is safe and secure. Also, remember to bring along some fresh water for your pup to enjoy at rest stops. Pack up and get ready to hit the road!

Step
1
Plan your trip
Begin by planning your road trip. Start by choosing a final destination - even if you don't plan on staying in one spot for too long, it is good to have a primary goal for your road trip. Plan everything, including where you will stop to let your pup get out and stretch. Even dogs who love car rides will need to get out of the car for breaks!
Step
2
Hit the road
Load up the car and go! While you surely packed everything you need, be certain to pack things for your dog as well. If you are going on a multi-day road trip, you will need to bring food, water, a collar, a leash and even a cozy blanket for your pup to enjoy for a bed.
Step
3
Make memories
Drive, drive, drive! Open the window a tiny bit for your dog to get some fresh air and be able to smell the new smells along the way. Talk, and even sing, to your pup and praise them along the way for being a patient traveling partner. Stop along the way for a few walks in new locations - everything about your road trip will excite your dog!
