Introduction

When the Golden Retriever and the Chinese Shar-Pei are bred together, they conceive a fascinating hybrid dog known as the Golden Pei. This designer dog’s size can range from medium to large, depending on which genes they inherit more.  The Golden Retriever is renowned for being one of the most affectionate dog breeds while the Shar-Pei is a hopelessly devoted breed. As a result, the Golden Pei is generally good-natured, caring and loyal. However, this breed may exhibit a hint of stubbornness and spirited temperament. Thus, they will need an owner that can remain calm and patient with them throughout their training and overall growth.

Frisbee disc
Activity description

Although the Golden Retriever is athletic and loves to move around, the Chinese Shar-Pei is the exact opposite. As a result, Golden Peis require just a moderate amount of activity for them to stay healthy and fit. A classic dog game that remains a favorite among dog owners is Frisbee. This timeless activity is always entertaining for your pooch. Not only that, Frisbee stimulates both your dog’s body and mind; they run around and think about how to make the catch. This can be even more enjoyable if your Golden Pei takes on the “retrieving” skills of their Golden Retriever parent.

Step
1
Introduce the disc
The first thing you want to do is to have a disc to play with. You can easily buy one from online stores or local pet and toy shops. Then, you need to introduce the disc to your dog. This way, your dog will form some sort of attachment towards the disc, which will help once you are playing the actual game. Most dogs are immediately enticed. However, if your pooch needs more motivation, you can use the disc as a treats bowl or smear its edges with some peanut butter.
Step
2
Incorporate gentle games
Once your dog has built some sort of familiarity with the disc, you can start to try a few games with it. One thing you can do is roll the disc and see if your dog will chase it. You can also play tug-of-war with your pooch to spark interest but be gentle when doing so. Slowly, increase the height of the disc to get your dog jumping to try and reach it. Do this for about 15 to 30 minutes every day to get your dog used to it.
Step
3
Play some frisbee
When you feel like your dog is ready for the actual game, head down to your backyard and play. Start by throwing the disc low and close. Also, make sure to throw it gently so your dog won’t get hurt when they try to catch the disc. As the game progresses, you can also start to increase the height and distance of your throws.

Activity description

A family outing is always a grand time, especially if you get to bring your dog with you. Dogs typically like being in new environments and seeing new places so it only makes sense to bring your four-legged friend with you out on your trips every once in a while. You can never go wrong with a visit to the lake. Here, there are plenty of opportunities for fun activities, including swimming, hiking, water activities, camping and picnics, among others. There is no doubt that your Golden Pei will appreciate spending some quality time with you while enjoying different activities at the same time.

Step
1
Pack for the trip
To have the best day ever, you should always be prepared; remember that you are packing for you and your pooch. Water is very important, particularly if the weather is warm. This is crucial for a Golden Pei, since the Shar-Pei has the tendency to overheat quickly. Furthermore, if you have plans to swim, you need to have a flotation device for your pooch for safety purposes. Finally, bring a couple of doggy waste bags to clean up after your dog.
Step
2
Fun day out
After you have checked everything out and are good to go, make your way to the nearest lake for a full day of activities. When you get there, choose a spot where you can set up your stuff. From there, you can decide on what you want to do first. You can go and play some fetch, check out the hiking trails (if there are any) or swim. Be sure to always keep an eye on your dog and to take food and water breaks in between activities

Activity description

Whether you are a cyclist who loves dogs or a dog lover who would like to incorporate cycling into your routine, one thing is for sure: bike rides are more enjoyable when your best furry friend tags along for the ride. What’s good about cycling with your dog is that it serves as a workout for them, which is an upgrade from a simple walk in the park or neighborhood. It is also a creative way to spend time with your pooch without having to compromise your personal time. All you need for this activity is a bike, a leash or harness and you are good to go.

Step
1
Gear up
Some dog owners feel the regular leash and collar they use for walks are good enough for a bike ride. However, it is recommended that you buy a proper biking leash and harness for your dog if you plan to go cycling with them. Not only is it durable, it also helps your dog become more mobile. It will also come in handy if you a have waist belt where you can attach the leash. This way, you are free to use both hands on the bike.
Step
2
Ride with your dog
When you plan to go out for a ride, gear your dog up with the harness. Make sure that it is not too tight and that your dog is comfortable. Then, attach one end of the leash to the harness and the other end to your waist belt. Put on your helmet and head out for a ride. Start off slowly so that your dog can keep up. Note that you need to be mindful of your dog’s pace. Eventually, you can pick up the speed when you feel like your pooch can handle it. Lastly, and most importantly, do not forget to hydrate.
