Introduction

Your adorable toy sized King Pin is a mix between the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the Miniature Pinscher. Being a little mixed baby, they take their parents’ traits both good and bad to make up a new breed, unique, adorable, and above all, cuddly! This small doggo is perfect for the home of any size, but they do need their mental and physical stimulation to be happy and to stay healthy. Let’s get started!

Activity description

The King Pin is surprisingly easy to maintain, believe it or not. These dogs do not shed as often as other dog breeds, probably due to their Miniature Pinscher side. They also have short fur, which results in easier maintenance, and less headache for you. However, you do need to groom your pupper once in a while to keep them looking fresh and clean, just like that Outkast song says. One thing to keep in mind when it comes to grooming is your King Pin's ears. They need to stay dry and clean because they are folded, and moisture can lead to bacteria growth.

Step
1
Nail clipping
Get your little nail clippers and get ready to take care of those phalanges. Have your doggo lay on the floor and then carefully clip their nails. Just make sure you don’t clip too far! You don’t want to hurt your pup’s nerve endings. The area you must watch out for is called the quick. Make sure you know where this is on the nail before you begin.
Step
2
Fur brushing
Get a nice slicker brush and give your King Pin a comb through twice a month. You don’t have to go in too harsh, and you definitely do not have to do this more than twice per month. Sing to your pup while you’re brushing them and always praise them for being a good doggo.
Step
3
Ear cleaning
Make sure to keep your pup’s ears clean and dry. Take extra care when your dog gets wet and thoroughly dry their ears to prevent bacteria growth. By doing this, you are also making sure that your pup does not develop an infection. Handle their ears often and they will not hesitate when it is time for you to check them.

Activity description

Since the King Pin is a hybrid, that means that they inherit their parents’ activity levels. The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a moderately active pup, and the Miniature Pinscher is an activity machine, so that means that the King Pin will also be a relatively active pupper. One thing to keep in mind is that your King Pin is quite small, which means that they can get cold fast, so in rainy or cold weather, opt to go to the indoor dog center or playground to provide some fun and exercise.

Step
1
Puppy class
You can sign your dog up for a puppy class in a dog center. The caregivers will help your dog with behavior issues, socialization, and obedience, and help you train your pup to behave well at home. King Pins can chew and ruffle the household items, so this class will surely help.
Step
2
Socialization class
Another service most of the dog centers provide is help with socialization. These classes will help them feel more comfortable around other canines, and teach them how to interact with other dogs. Regular interaction with other dogs can only be a bonus for your King Pin!

Activity description

When the rain is falling, and the outside world just is not acceptable to you and your little munchkin, you can still have loads of fun inside! Your pupper requires activity to stay happy, and if you do not provide it, they can ransack the apartment just to keep themselves entertained. Gather their toys, some treats, maybe re-arrange your pillows and furniture to make tunnels and obstacles and let your hair down! Just be careful not to break anything and to not hurt yourselves in the process!

Step
1
Sniff and search
Hide treats around your house and have your dog sit calmly while you do it. You can let them watch as it will be easier for them to find the treats. Praise them whenever they manage to find one and keep the treats healthy and of small size!
Step
2
Interactive toys
Grab a toy in which you can stuff treats and give it to your doggo. They will try hard to get the treats out and have a lot of fun in the process. Instead of treats, you can smear some peanut butter inside for double the fun. Observe as they play so that they do not destroy the toy and ingest any parts.

Interactive Feeder

A great way to keep your doggo occupied and entertained is to purchase an interactive dog feeder. These puzzles are amazing, and they will provide loads of fun.

Shopping

Since your pup is small, you can take them shopping with you! Go to a pet store and try on new outfits, taste new treats, and get all the goodies you need.

Conclusion

As you can see, entertaining and keeping your King Pin active is not hard at all! This doggo is easy to work with, and they are super convenient to take wherever you go. They are small, cute, and most of all, little rays of sunshine that light up your life. Love them, tell them that they are good doggos every day, and bestow a lot of care and attention on them.
