Introduction

The Maltipom, also known as the Moodie, is a darling hybrid cross between a Maltese and a Pomeranian. If you are lucky enough to share your life with a Maltipom, then you know all about their intelligence and constant need to be with you. Your Maltipom is probably your little buddy who loves sharing all aspects of your life. When thinking about activities for your small friend, remember that their tiny size means they may require specific modifications to enjoy outings. Your little dog might prefer riding in a pet stroller instead of walking. If you visit a dog park or other location frequented by larger dogs, then you will want to keep an eye on your little furry companion because Maltipoms tend to have sweet and outgoing personalities. Your delicate pup might not realize that other dogs can be aggressive and unfriendly.

Activity description
Your Maltipom may not be an overly active canine. Many small dogs become couch potatoes who enjoy lounging beside their beloved owners and living a sedentary lifestyle. However, all canines require a bit of exercise. Bubble fetch is a fun indoor or outdoor game that doesn't take a lot of time to enjoy. Many dogs, both large and small, genuinely appreciate the activity. However, bubble fetch is well-suited to a little dog who doesn't want to run a long distance and carry back a large object. Plus, Maltipoms are notorious for loving the 'fetch' aspect of a game, but they are not big on the 'retrieve' part of the activity. They will often run out to grab the ball or toy and never bring it back to you, so bubble fetch is a great option.
Step
1
Sit with your dog
You will want to sit down on the floor or ground so you are on the same level as your dog. Let your little buddy climb into your lap and show them the bottle of bubbles or the bubble machine if you have decided to use a battery powered blower. Some owners want to use the old-school wand bubble blower first because it is less scary than a motorized version. However, if you are going to use a motorized bubble maker, remember to let your dog sniff the machine so they do not become scared of the noise from the motor.
Step
2
Blowing the bubbles
It is time to start blowing the bubbles for your small furry friend. Either start the blower or grab the wand and get to blowing. Your pooch will probably be excited to see the bubbles start flying. Offer lots of encouragement and demonstrate how to chase the bubbles. If they start to happily pop the bubbles, be sure to tell them what a good job they are doing!
Step
3
Clean up
After your little buddy has caught enough bubbles it's time to clean up. The soap can leave a residue in your Maltipom's fur. Use a warm washcloth to gently wipe away the bubble solution. In an extreme case, your dog might require a bath. However, the fun your dog had catching all those bubbles will probably make a bath worth the effort.

Activity description
Visiting a store may not sound like an exciting activity, but your Maltipom loves being with you on a daily basis and will be thrilled to be included in whatever errands you have. Many pet stores, hardware stores, and home improvement retailers allow you to bring your dog into the store. Some pet-focused retailers even provide your furry friend with a tasty dog biscuit. One of the great things about shopping with your dog is that you can do the activity in any weather, rain or shine. It's a great way for you both to get out of the house and spend some quality time together. If this is the first outing that your dog has enjoyed at a busy retailer you will want to take things slow, so they adjust to the hustle and bustle.
Step
1
Arrival
When you first arrive at the store you can decide if your dog will ride in the cart or walk on a leash. If you own a pet stroller your Maltipom can ride in the comfortable confines of the stroller throughout the store. Your dog will probably want to smell everything so if they want to walk, then let them. However, in a pet store, you can encounter larger dogs; if this occurs reassure your pup with a calm voice. It could very well be a gentle giant approaching!
Step
2
Take your time
When strolling the aisles why not take your time? Your furry friend is going to be excited and want to look at everything. As you walk along, remember that the outing is about together time with your doggy best friend, so offering lots of words of encouragement is a great way to form deep bonds with each other. If this is your dog's first outing then they might be nervous but with reassurance and talking in a sing-song voice, your dog will settle down and enjoy the outing.
Step
3
Present time
No matter what store you visit, there is usually an aisle dedicated to pet supplies so why not take the time to buy your dog a small gift? Remember, your canine companion is very similar to a human child and will appreciate some little toy or yummy morsel of food to finalize a special day. Many pet-friendly retailers also provide canine visitors with a dog treat so be sure to ask at the checkout stand if there are any doggy treats available.

Activity description
A Maltipom is a high maintenance dog when it comes to keeping their fur in pristine shape. Your dog requires trims and regular combing to remove knots. Also, their coat needs to be washed frequently. Many owners turn to groomers to keep their furry buddy looking great. In general, a Maltipom is usually a well-behaved dog when it comes to visiting a professional grooming salon. If you feel like having a special bonding session with your pup, why not give them a day of pampering yourself at a DIY salon? You can bathe and blow dry them at a self-serve doggy salon. Everything you need to play groomer for the day with your pooch is on hand. Your Maltipom will soak up the personalized attention, all at a minimal cost.
Step
1
Bath time
Most self-serve pet centers have raised bathtubs or wash basins with handheld wands so you don't have to worry about bending over and straining your back to wash your pet. Adjust the water so it feels warm to the touch. Pick out the perfect shampoo and conditioner. Grab a fluffy towel. Now, lift your pooch gently into the tub. Wet your dog's fur with the warm water and work the shampoo into their fine coat. Rinse the soap out thoroughly and then repeat with the conditioner.
Step
2
Towel dry or blow dry
Many owners opt to towel dry their pet if it is a warm day outdoors. If you think it is chilly, you are going to want to do a combination towel dry and blow dry so your little friend doesn't get cold. First, run the towel over their body and squeeze the fur to remove excess water. Test the blow dryer temperature on your hand to make sure it is not too hot. Gently blow dry your dog's fur on a low setting. You can also run a comb or brush through the fine fur to prevent it from matting as you blow dry.
Step
3
Bow or no bow
Let's face the facts, any Maltipom looks cute with a bow! Most establishments offer a variety of bows that you can place in your dog's hair for that finished appearance. You could also use a small rubber band to create a top knot on their head to keep the fur out of their eyes and give them that extra cute, wide-eyed look. When leaving the doggy salon, don't forget to spritz your pooch with a bit of dog cologne for a lasting clean smell.

Dress your dog in a cute costume and offer a treat to let them know that they look cute and are extra special. Also,  provide adequate words of encouragement. Some dogs might object at first, but with persistence, your furry friend will happily wear clothing for all special occasions.

Picture Day

With today's smartphones, every day can be picture day with your Maltipom. You could even start an Instagram account for your furry friend and showcase their photos on the site.
