Introduction

When you breed a Pekingese with a Pomeranian, you get a hybrid dog called a Peek-A-Pom. This breed is considered a designer dog that is highly desirable due to their cute features and charming personalities. These small dogs need more exercise than just running around in the backyard from time-to-time. You can provide your pint-sized pooch with a lot of fun activities. At Wag!, we like to get a little creative with these activities. We have created a list of really fun activities that you can enjoy with your dog. With these activities, you can also build a better bond with your Peek-A-Pom.

Activity description

Your Peek-A-Pom's birthday only comes around once a year, so why not make the most of the celebration with a killer doggy birthday pawty? You can research themes, find the perfect location (or just turn your house into the celebration headquarters), and treat your guests to all kinds of doggy goodies. You can host a doggy birthday party indoors or outdoors, but you should make sure the location is safe and that the dogs can't run away. While you can spend a lot on your dog's birthday party, you can also go a less expensive route and still throw a fabulous party.

Step
1
Prepare
A lot goes into throwing a birthday party, even one for a dog. You need to come up with a guest list and send out invitations to all of the guests. Decorations aren't going to order themselves, so you have the chance to go shopping for anything that you want for the party. You should also get a doggy birthday cake ordered so that it is ready for the big day.
Step
2
Set up the event
Parties do require a little bit of work. Before all of your guests arrive, you should make sure that all of your decorations get put up and that there are toys ready for the dogs when they arrive. Make sure goodie bags are ready for the guests to take on their way out, and plan for human seating.
Step
3
Throw the party
You get to play hostess for your dog's birthday party. After welcoming guests into your home, you can make sure that all events go off without a hitch. You will also probably want to keep an eye on the dogs as they play, as things can get a little crazy with a bunch of dogs running around. Plus, the cake won't serve itself, and your dog is going to need some help opening all of those gifts.

Dog-safe Bubbles
Activity description

Animals love to watch bubbles. Make this a fun activity by blowing bubbles for you Peek-A-Pom. All you need to do is find dog-safe bubbles and a good place to play, and you and your pooch can have a grand time. Bubbles are safe to use indoors, but if you would rather use them outdoors only, make sure to pick a warm, sunny day for bubble-time. If it is too cold, the bubbles can freeze, and in the rain, bubbles will pop almost as quickly as you can blow them. Bubbles might not hold your dog's attention for too long, so play for as long as they are interested.

Step
1
Find dog-safe bubbles
Not all bubbles are created equally. Search for bubbles with a non-toxic formula. You may also want to find scented bubbles that are made to attract the attention of dogs. You should be able to find these bubbles without spending a ton of money. Check out your local pet supply store.
Step
2
Blow bubbles
This could be one of the easiest activities you do with your Peek-A-Pom. All you need to do is blow bubbles and watch your dog chase and catch them. You'll giggle when your dog pops one and a look of confusion crosses their face. If you can manage it, take a few photos for fun!

Activity description

Keep your dog entertained by creating a dog fishing rod and trying to lure them in like a fish! Create a fishing rod with PVC pipe, string, and one of your dog's toys. From there, you just get to play with your Peek-A-Pom! You can play this game both indoors and outdoors, so you can play it regardless of the weather. This is a cheap game, so your wallet will thank you! Once you start playing this game with your Peek-A-Pom, they won't be able to get enough. And, you'll get your real fishing fix in for a least a little while!

Step
1
Create a fishing rod
Creating a doggy fishing rod is really easy. Take a small piece of PVC pipe, tie a string to one end of it, and attach a toy to the other end of the string. Pick a toy that your dog has shown a lot of interest in, to ensure that they will want to play for a while.
Step
2
Go fishing
Catch your dog's attention with the lure. Once you have their attention, you can bounce the toy around and let your dog chase it. Move the lure in different directions to really keep your pooch moving. Be sure that you let your dog catch the lure every so often so that they don't lose interest.

Learn a New Trick

Give your dog a little challenge by teaching them a new trick every now and then. Maybe you haven't taught your Peek-A-Pom how to give a high five yet. Go ahead and give it a shot!

Host a Playdate

Invite other doggy friends over to your home for a little doggy playdate. These playdates allow for some quality socialization time between your dog and your friends' dogs.

Conclusion

As the owner of a Peek-A-Pom, you know just how much energy these little pooches can have! Giving your Peek-A-Pom adequate exercise and mental stimulation can help curb some of the energy that you might have noticed your dog building up. We all love spending time with our dogs, and these activities will help you do just that.
