Introduction

The Tibetan Pug will be like a breath of fresh air in the home. A hybrid cross between a Tibetan Spaniel and a Pug, this lively, friendly little pup will become a treasured addition to your family. Full of fun and mischief, this little champ needs a daily walk and other activities to keep them entertained. They respond well in training especially if it is of a positive nature, in other words, plenty of encouragement and a few treat rewards. Beware of over-exercising your Tibetan Pug on a hot day. Dogs don't sweat like we do, and if your dog has inherited the pushed in face of the Pug, they may have difficulty breathing. Keep hot days for splashing around in the water and running through the sprinklers! Whatever you are doing, if it looks like fun, your pup will join in.

Activity description
Whether it is your dog's birthday, a child's or even your own birthday, it is a day to be celebrated! Your Tibetan Pug will love to help with the festivities. If there are a lot of children, that will be the icing on the cake, as they say. Not only will your dog be the life of the party, but they will have a blast running around chasing the children. A few balls to throw around, a rope to tug and play or even a few rounds of cricket will be an activity your dog will love. Be careful if it is a hot day, that your dog doesn't overdo the exercise. If they have inherited the brachycephalic Pug face they may find it hard to breathe with the combination of heat and exercise. If a guest wants to bring their dog along they will be a great companion for your pup as they enjoy the games that dogs play! You won't have to plan the activities - often the fun just happens and everyone goes along with it.
Step
1
Party time
Apart from a bit of planning for food, drinks and activities, it should be a day for everyone to enjoy. If you can hold the party outside where there is plenty of room and the mess won't worry you, then so much the better. If there are presents, your dog will probably offer to help pull the paper away from the package. They could spend hours rolling and ripping paper! The meet and greet is a good time for your Tibetan Pug to make some new friends and to practice their social skills. Remember to keep a watch on them as in the excitement they may go too far. A gentle reminder and making them sit and enjoy the sights will help. Plenty of time for them to meet and impress everyone.
Step
2
Mix the activities up a bit
Try to plan to have a mix of activities throughout the day in order to keep the atmosphere somewhat calm. Intersperse running and playing activities with present opening, some nibbling and perhaps some relaxing and chatting. During this time, let your pup snuggle in your lap for a quick snooze. Then if the day is fine, get the BBQ going and break out the food! Your dog will be awake and ready for this part! Just the change in the daily routine will be a fun time for your dog. They love to see what everyone is doing, and will be kept busy keeping up with everyone!
Step
3
Your little helper
As the party winds down, let your pup help you tidy the yard. They can grab some paper and come and put it in a bin - a fun way of training! Let them collect a few of the toys and bring them back inside. Let your Tibetan Pug be useful. You could strap on their backpack and fill it up with stuff to bring back to the house. Dogs love to help, so don't hesitate to enlist their enthusiasm. They can grab a corner of a rug and help you to carry it back inside. A party is hard work for a dog! When they are conspicuous by their absence, look for them in their favorite sleeping place. They will be reliving the party in their dreams.

A quad bike or four wheeler motorcycle
Activity description
What dog doesn't like an outing to the beach? The sand, the water, and the other pooches that they encounter are all fun! But today, you have access to a four-wheeler motorbike! They are easy to drive, and there is ample room for your and your Pug. Imagine the joy they will have as the warm breeze tickles their ears as you zoom along the sand. They will be with their human buddy and happy as a lark. A quad bike or four wheeler (whatever you call it) allows you to go for miles down the beach. There are new areas to explore, people to meet, and it is just relaxing exploring the beach without having to do too much. For your dog, it will be a workout for their nose to capture all those enticing scents. Make sure you keep a firm grip on them so they don't bounce off! Stop often to explore the cove, pick up some shells, or just relax and watch the surfers in the waves.
Step
1
Find the wheels
A day at the beach is easy to plan. But unless your partner or friend has a quad bike, this step could take some planning. There are places where you can rent them for a day, so check out prices and see if it suits your purpose. If your family has one, then you are good to go! Time to introduce your dog to the bike. Usually, there is a large seat behind the driver, it is like it was made for a person and pup. Start off slow to allow your dog to adjust to the movement. Hold on to your Tibetan Pug as you go along, just in case your dog decides to jump off! Stop and start so they get used to this new toy!
Step
2
Cruising along
As you sit on the back of the bike and enjoy the ride down the sand, it is a time that will bring your dog and you even closer together. Travelling by quad means you can see so much more of the beachfront, without the hot walking required normally. This is especially good for your dog on a hot day as the sand can get really hot. Your Tibetan Pug could overheat with all that walking and playing. Having the warm wind fluff their fur is a great treat. You can stop to chat with people, have a splash in the water, or just decide to sit on the bike and dig into some cool drinks that you brought along.
Step
3
Biker dog
It won't take long for your dog to discover the benefits of riding in a quad bike. How important will they feel as they cruise past other dogs, looking down at them from above. The bike is a lot of fun, and is a quick way to explore the distant edges of the beach. The bike has a lot of room to carry the heavy stuff such as water bottles, food, towels, and all those treasures you and your Tibetan Pug find. They will love fishing in the rock pools for all sorts of things. Then to sit with their family and cruise along, well you can't get better than that!

Activity description
You can train your dog at home, but for a real challenge, why not take them down to the park where there are many distractions?. The distractions will really test your Tibetan Pug's focus and concentration. Sudden noises can startle your dog, but it is great practice to hold their stance, to stay and listen to your commands rather than go and check out the noise they just heard. Other dogs will be at the park too and will come over to say hello. Keep control of your dog so they don't want to run off and play. The park offers shade under the trees where you can brush up on the skills you taught your dog. If your dog is young and easily led astray, keep them on the leash and offer tasty rewards for good behavior. The different venue for training offers a refreshing change, one that your dog will love. Don't overdo the session, let them have a bit of play at the end before you put the leash back on to walk home. This activity is good mental and physical exercise for your canine friend.
Step
1
Walking to the park
You may as well walk to the park to get some exercise. The walk will help your dog burn off a little energy before you start to train them. The first time you do this, it may pay to keep your dog on the leash at the park. Every time your dog gets a little distracted, command them to focus and when they do, give them a treat. They will soon learn that good behavior and following orders will fill their tummy which is a priority in any dog's life.
Step
2
Keep calm at all times
A calm demeanor is a welcomed asset when training your dog. If they keep getting distracted, just shake their leash gently and say 'focus'. Using rewards and positive affirmation when they get things right will pay off with your dog responding quicker to your commands. Your Pug just wants to please, so take it slow and keep calm. Get excited when they do the right thing, and keep calm and even toned when they get it wrong. Remember for a dog to learn, it has to be fun. And if there is food to be earned, well, even better.
Step
3
Free time to play
After a gruelling session of sit, stay and roll over - let your dog off the leash to have some free time. They will want to investigate the bushes, chase a few birds, and meet a few dogs who are visiting the park as well. This activity will keep your dog social and confident. Mixing with other dogs and people is very important to preventing anxiety in your pet. Then, when it's time to go home, clip them back on the leash and reward with some kind words and a wealth of patting. Your dog will walk on air all the way home!

More Fun Ideas...

Treat in Hand

This simple game will test your Tibetan Pug's sense of detection as you ask them to find the yummy treat you are holding. Ask your dog to sit and stay. Then all you have to do is hide a small treat in one of your hands (don't let them see which hand). Hold both hands out in front of your dog and let them indicate what hand they think the treat is in. If they get it wrong, rehide the treat and try again. When they get it right, they get the treat!

Craft Market Outing

Your Tibetan Pug will love to be your constant companion, so consider taking them with you when you head out to the craft market. It is an ideal socializing event for your dog as they get used to the all the activity and noise. Sit and snuggle with your dog while you listen to the roving musicians, wander along the craft stalls and maybe even let your dog choose a treat or a new toy from one of the pet accessory stalls. It is a pleasant way to enjoy your pet's company and have some fun.

Garden Work

It is the simple things that can make your dog's day, such as being your helper when you start working in the garden. You can train them to dig by making a game of it. Hide a treat and let them dig to find it. In this way, they can turn the ground over for you. Let them ride in the wheelbarrow when you have to move some plants around. Or toss a stick so they can go and fetch. They will just love being with you and will probably doze off beside you once they have worn off some of their energy.

Conclusion

Who can resist the pleading eyes of a dog tha wants to go for a walk? For a dog, a walk is the opportunity to learn about their community and what is going on in it. Allow your Tibetan Pug to stop and sniff the roses - or bushes! The activity looks passive, but it gives their scent detection a workout as they decipher the various smells. A walk is an ideal time for socializing with other dogs and people they meet while out walking. Learning social skills gives a dog confidence when venturing out and it enables them to learn the correct behavior that is expected of them when they meet others. Games help to keep your dog fit and challenges their brain, especially when they have to solve a problem such as finding a hidden object. Engage your pup and they will become a well rounded, happy dog.
