Activity description
Wire Poxers are known to be big chewers. They like to chew on everything from their bones to pieces of wood outside to your furniture. Of course, some things you just don't want your Wire Poxer to chew. In order to solve this chewing problem, you need to find a toy that your Wire Poxer absolutely loves and cannot live without. This activity will help you do just that and it will also save your furniture in the process! The low cost of a few chew toys will be well worth the investment and you can set up this activity any day, any time. Time to get chewing!
Step
1
Bones
There are a wide variety of bones you can choose from in order to find your Wire Poxer's favorite chew toy. From yak's milk cheese bones to regular old animal bones, you are sure to find something that your pup will go crazy for. Buy a few different bones and lay them on the ground in front of your pup. Whichever one your Wire Poxer chooses is what you should buy in bulk!
Step
2
Squeaky toys
When your dog hears a squeak inside a toy, do they automatically go crazy with excitement? If this is true, buy a few different squeaky toys and let your dog have at them. Many dogs will rip apart the squeaky toy, unveil the plastic squeaker and then move on. To prevent this quick disposal of the toy, find ones that are tough fabric and won't tear as easily. But hey, if it prevents your Wire Poxer from chewing on other household items, it is worth the cost! Just be sure to supervise the play.
Step
3
Textured chews
Look for strong rubber chew toys that come in a variety of different textures. Your dog may enjoy chewing soft rubber or maybe they will like the feel of ridges and grooves on their teeth. Whichever rubber chew toy your dog prefers, make sure to give it to them whenever you go out of the house to keep them busy!

Activity description
Wire Poxers are very social dogs and they get along very well with all types of other pups. One reason that they are so amicable is that they don't often want to be the "dominant dog", they simply want to play! However, like any breed, your pup needs to be around other dogs often in order to remain socialized. Make sure your Wire Poxer has plenty of opportunities to hang out with their dog friends by following these steps. Making friends is completely free (you may need one or two dog treats) and can be done anytime, no matter what the weather!
Step
1
Dog park
Bring your Wire Poxer to a local dog park where they can run free with other dogs. When you first get to the dog park, keep your pup on the leash and walk them around to let them sniff around while still in your control. Once your Wire Poxer seems comfortable and ready, let them off the leash to run and play! They will likely make friends with other dogs right away and spend the next hour or so happily playing.
Step
2
Friends with pets
If you have a friend who has a dog why not set up a playdate for your pets?! Since your Wire Poxer is such a laid back dog, they would likely get along with any other dog meaning you and your friend can hang out and not worry about the dogs having any conflicts. The dogs will play and you can relax with your friend - everyone wins!
Step
3
New pup
The ultimate friend that you can get for your Wire Poxer is to adopt another dog. While this is certainly a big commitment and you should be sure you are ready to take on having multiple dogs, your Wire Poxer will be thrilled to have a permanent playmate. Look for similar breeds that will have the same fun, happy attitude as your Wire Poxer and you will soon be enjoying twice the puppy love.

Remote controlled toy car
Treats
Activity description
Wire Poxers are part Wire Fox Terrier which means that there is hunting and tracking in their blood. While you may not want your pup to really start hunting live animals, there are ways to curb any hunting tendencies into a fun game. Using a remote controlled car is one sure fire way to have fun with your Wire Poxer and see how your dog does on a "hunt". Purchasing a remote controlled car will be a slight investment but you don't need the top of the line model, anything that can go quickly and in a few directions is perfect!  You can also play this game inside or outside making it perfect for any weather.
Step
1
Toy search
Find a remote controlled car that fits your budget and is durable. You and your Wire Poxer will be playing with the car frequently and there is a good chance your dog tries to paw at the car, pick up the car or flip it over a few times. So, while you don't need something with all the bells and whistles, you do want it to be sturdy!
Step
2
Introductions
Bring your dog to a nice open field or clear some of your furniture out of the way so you and your Wire Poxer have space to play. Put the toy on the ground and let your dog sniff it and see what this new toy is all about. Don't make the car go just yet. Instead, wait until your pup is done sniffing and the initial curiosity is gone.
Step
3
Go, go, go!
Once your dog seems to understand the remote controlled car, use the remote to make it move forward. Your Wire Poxer will likely perk up, wondering how the car just moved. Once your dog's interest is peaked, make the car go quickly forward, just out of your dog's reach. The hunting instincts in your dog will be triggered and they will start chasing the car like crazy! Keep playing, keeping the car away from your dog for as long as possible.

Sprints

While Wire Poxers are not the best running companion, they do fantastic in small sprints. Have a race with your dog and see which one of you is the fastest (your dog's little legs can move pretty fast!).

Earthdog Clubs

Look for a local earthdog club where your dog can use their natural sense of small and racking abilities to go deep into a tunnel maze and find a prize. While there is a good amount of training involved, your Wire Poxer will love a good challenge!

Conclusion

Happy and silly, stubborn yet loveable, Wire Poxers are a fantastic breed of dog. There are an endless number of games you can play with this breed but these activities are the best place to start. Each activity will trigger your dog's natural desires and ensure they have fun. From making new friends to finding the perfect chew toy, joining an earth dog club to chasing a remote controlled car, the possibilities are endless! Time to play with that spunky Wire Poxer!
