Introduction

Mike Donnelly is the ne'er-do-well brother of gubernatorial candidate Al Donnelly, who is as successful as Mike is prone to being at the wrong place at the wrong time. In many ways, this is why Mike is considered the "black sheep" of the family. In reality, Mike works at a local recreation center, where he talks to kids about the dangers of drinking and drugs (albeit in an unconventional way). He also mentors kids who just don't seem to have a positive male figure around, or boys who seem to be picked on a lot. Mike really has a big heart and most people who know him know that he truly wants his brother Al to win the governorship. That won't stop Al's competition from trying to smear Mike's good name, though. Grab some popcorn and settle down to watch the 1996 movie, Black Sheep as you search for a name for your new furry friend.

Black Sheep Inspired Dog Name Considerations

At the beginning of our story, Mike Donnelly is driving a van equipped with a loudspeaker. A large cut-out of his politician brother's head tops the van, and as Mike meanders through town, he is sharing positive facts about his brother, Al, who is running for governor. As is often Mike's luck, the cut-out of Al somehow snaps loose from its base and is typically being dragged along by the van. Furthermore, a pack of neighborhood dogs suddenly surround Mike's van and chase him, barking the entire time. There are a variety of dogs in this scene with no particular breed standing out.

David Spade, whose character ends up with the job of babysitting Mike Donnelly and making sure that he does not get into trouble (which he inevitably does) is connected with a number of dogs in his career and personal life - or at least his name is. He is associated with a pet clothing line that he claims "fits dogs of all shapes and sizes." With this in mind, any dog may benefit from a name inspired by the Chris Farley comedy, Black Sheep
