Introduction

Orphan Black, a Canadian television show that follows the story of streetwise con-woman Sarah Manning, was first broadcast on March 30, 2013 and continued for five seasons, with the last episode airing on August 12, 2017. In the show, Sarah witnesses the suicide of her doppelganger, a police officer by the name of Beth Childs, and assumes Beth’s identity to escape her own life. Sarah discovers that she is actually one of several clones and she begins working with her fellow clones to uncover the mystery behind their creation. All of the clones are played by a single actress, Tatiana Maslany, and her convincing portrayal of several very different women has earned her several acting awards including a Constellation Award, a Young Hollywood award, and an Emmy.
