Introduction

The Mighty Ducks refers to a film, an animated TV show, and an actual NHL team - all of which were founded by The Walt Disney Company during the early 1990s. The Mighty Ducks film came out on October 2nd, 1992; Emilio Estevez starred as an arrogant attorney with a troubled past who coaches a Pee-Wee Hockey Team. Made with a relatively modest budget of $10 million, the film grossed more than $50 million and received much praise and acclaim. A year later, Disney founded a real-life Hockey Team called the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (who currently call themselves the Anaheim Ducks.) In 1996, Disney would create an animated show based on the Mighty Ducks, bringing everything full circle.

The Mighty Ducks Inspired Dog Name Considerations

Between the 1992 film, the 1996 animated show, and the real-life team that still plays to this day, there are a lot of Mighty Ducks inspired names that Disney fans could give to their pets. If we focus our attention solely on the Mighty Ducks movie, a fan could name their dog after any of the film's fictional characters or authentic cast and crew members. Emilio Estevez's character Gordon Bombay starts the movie off as a bit of a jerk but grows into a compassionate and caring coach for the Ducks. You could name your dog after Estevez himself, or Gordon Bombay to pay tribute to the film. You could also name your pet after any of the Ducks' fictional "District 5" players.

If you're a dyed in the wool Hockey fan, you could also name your pet after members of the Anaheim Ducks' roster. You don't even have to limit your search to their current team; numerous players, coaches, and general managers have come and gone over the years, so a Hockey fan will have no shortage of names to consider. If you watched the animated Mighty Ducks show back in the day, you could also name your dog after any of the series' heroes or villains.
